Just got an email from trion advertising a free 'buddy' weekend. Since I don't play it anymore and none of my friends like mmo's, figured I'd share!

The code is JFNY-PGH3-DLYG-7HLJ-9MHX, not sure if it's single use or a generic one.

Quoted from the email - Visit www.RIFTgame.com/en/ally for instructions on how to apply your Ally Code and to download the RIFT patcher.

Enjoy!

Its worth checking out for anyone who’s into mmo's, I love the PVP on this can spend ages in the PVP war-fronts

/Edit

Just checked my email too and got a code to give away

TWMT-WTRW-L9ZF-GKN7-CR2R

I love MMOs, but not one with fees.

I barely log in enough to get my moneys worth. If I cant load up and play a game without paying a subscription, I'm not interested.

Ahhh, I wonder if this one is for the people who didnt get a code last time. Cause I didnt get a code to give out last time. I'd better check my mail.

EDIT : nope...still havent got one

Nice contradiction, you love them but barely log in. Also off topic

Yes, I dont play them 24/7, more like 1-2 times a week. Anything wrong with no longer being an addicted junkie?

If I pay for a game, I expect to be able to play it whenever I want without having to pay regular fees just to play every now and then.

I've certainly got no beef with your view on that. Some people dont mind paying subs, others do. Nothing wrong with either viewpoint, its just personal choice and what some think is worth their money and others dont, so I definitely have no issue with your choice.

im downloading 8gb for a load of crap,
ive read the official forums and it looks bad

Official forums are always bad on MMOs, mainly because the people who are enjoying themselves are in game, not on the forums. As the old retail saying goes, if someone has something positive to say, maybe 1 or 2 people will hear about it, if someone has something negative to say 30 or 40 people will hear about it.

What exactly looks bad? Maybe I can help to confirm or refute them.

No end game,
1 - 20 leving is really quick to intise new users in BUT from 20 - 50 is an endless grind.
Not very smooth gameplay,
The game is very solo orientated does not encourage grouping,
The quest are mainlty kill and loot quests,
BUT remember these are thing ive heard and read, Not what ive experianced,
Please tell me you view on the game,

I'm not at End game, but from what I know its got more end game than most MMOs have in the first month of release. I'm certain that as time goes past, as with other MMOs, additional end game content will be added.

I havent found anything, either pre 20 or post 20 to be an endless grind myself.

The gameplay is very smooth on my machine, but not too clear on exactly what aspects are referred to as not being very smooth.

Yeah, I'd agree that its quite solo orientated and doesnt overly push towards grouping. Having said that, I am on a PvP server, so the sheer fact that other players will attack me from level 20 onwards means that its of benefit to be grouped rather than soloing.

Yea, would agree that the quests are the standard MMO fare of Kill X of Y or collect object A and take it to B.

My view, it doesnt revolutionise the genre and most of what it contains has been done before in other games (the same could have course be said of WoW and other MMOs). However, I do find it fun, which is all I really ask of a game.

Got a character to level 38, got hacked, took them 3 weeks to restore my account.

Quit and never going back.

Thats a shame about being hacked. Thankfully, (touch wood), I've never been hacked in an MMO, but I know its becoming more and more prevalent as the selling of items, accounts and currencies is such big business now in MMOs. I fear that the hacking of MMO accounts is only going to become something thats more and more commonplace in MMOs released, I suspect every new MMO on the market which has a substantial following is going to be riddled with people getting their accounts hacked, which is a pity.

Yup, thats the best thing to do, give it a try before buying, thats what I did thanks to a kind person on the forum. Theres nothing really new in it but I just found it fun, fun enough for me to be willing to sub for a few months and see how it develops.
