Rift Poor Sensor Tracking Quality

Just curious, what version of the Oculus software are you running? If you go into settings and then general, scroll to the bottom of the screen, it should be oculus app 1.16.

Will you try a couple more things before giving up?

Remove the oculus software and reinstall it. Then do the following.

First download oculus tray tool from here

https://www.dropbox.com/s/k3srn92fzf3utbs/OculusTrayTool_0.69.2.zip?dl=0

Unzip it and run the app using admin rights. When the app starts, click the boxes that say start with windows, start minimized and use Audio Switcher. Then in power options check to make sure your current power plan is high performance. Also in the USB selective suspend, set that to disabled. Ignore everything else for the moment. You can close the app if you want now. If the PC isn't set to high performance, set it to that now, just for troubleshooting purposes.

Now reboot the pc and go into your bios. I don't know what memory speed you have but try to disable XMP and set your ram speed to a lower speed, try 2666mhz.

When your pc boots backup try the rift and see what happens.

Thanks so much for all your help Melmac - I've tried all of the above, but still nothing :(

I'm going to pop out now, and I will pop by a physical computer competitor store and see if they are selling any USB 3 PCIe cards - If not, I'll waiting until next week

Damn :( How frustrating are computers??

When they work they're great, but when they don't, I want to throw them out the window :p

I bought a Dynamode USB3 PCIe Card but it isn't working properly at all. I don't think it likes Windows 10, so that'll have to be returned at some point...

Think I got to wait for the Inateck card the whole Oculus community raves about :p

Word of warning to anyone thinking of getting an Oculus - Make sure you don't have an ASUS Z170-A Motherboard - I've been reading so many forum threads on people having this exact same issue :(

Ooooohh baby! I think I got a solution! And Melmac you were so close hahaha! :D

I went back into my BIOS and changed the RAM speed to 2133 and it's working absolutely perfectly!!

I read on another forum the USB ports go haywire anything over 2400... Very strange! But I'm off to play in the VR world! :D

Thanks again for all your help!

Class!! And dammit, I was going to suggest the lower spped

:) add me to your friends on Oculus and join me and fluke for some dead and buried!! Add fluke as well his name is FlukeRogi on oculus, mine is Melmac12. we are online now

Will do dude! Tonight I tried the demos, Bullet Train and Robo Recall. I also tried SteamVR and tried to get Elite Dangerous going but couldn’t figure out how to control the ship with my PS4 controller - but that’s for another day :p

Robo Recall is just absolutely silly fun! I already really want a third sensor so I can do full 360 robot shooting :D I finished up tonight sweating like crazy and my headset was pretty wet - Gross :p

But overall, I’m pretty blown away by it - I really didn’t want to stop but unfortunately I have **** to do tomorrow :p

The only annoyance is reality reality getting in the way of virtual reality.

Play Elite in 2D first, get used to it, then switch to the VR version. It also helps when you suddenly realise he size of the stations you've been docking at in 2D :)

Haha so true - Coming away from VR after playing it solid for a couple of hours was a bit trippy :p :D

I flew one passenger mission in Elite last time - It blew me away from the start when I was in the station - Soooo much bigger in VR than in Normal play! I still need to tweak the settings in Elite though. Is there a way to lock my head in place? I sit in a seat that I can recline in, and when I do, my head goes through the ships chair :p

Quick correction for anyone who wants to add me. On Oculus Home I'm just Fluke, on Steam I'm FlukeRogi.

I'll add you both tonight!

Im not sure why they say that USB bandwidth is the problem as I have all of my three sensors plugged into one USB port via a hub.
The problem is power, a Powered USB hub solved all of the problems I had.

In my scenario, it was the RAM frequency that was the problem. The Asus Z170-A apparently has issues with RAM frequency and power to the USB ports. I reduced the RAM frequency down to 2133Hz and it's been perfect ever since!
I think I still plan on getting the USB 3 card, as I only have about 1 spare now...

For me it's the F12 key to recentre my headset (although I use Voice Attack and tend to just say "reset headset" and it does. Means I don't have to move my head to press a key just as I try to reset.)

Actually, I can thoroughly recommend voice attack, makes so many things more fun and means you spend more time away from the keyboard.
"Landing gear"
"Lights!"
"reset headset"
"request docking"
