maybe the 3d printed 'soundpipe' may be a cheaper option. Marshmallows are also cheap for the comfort option.

overall I prefer the Quest's sound solution, it was a real downer to end a VR session abruptly because apparently the Mrs has been shouting for me for the past 5 minutes

With the Koss mod on my Rift S you can't even hear someone talking to you in the same room. If someones playing Beat Saber they are totally immersed.
