Rig for WoW Cata?

Hello,

I was wondering what rig could max out WoW Cata as I read that its more cpu hungry than gpu.

Most decent machines within the last few years will max it. They've improved it somewhat, but it's still a 2003 game at the end of the day, and most lag is due to texture loading in cities.

I know its more CPU hungry than GPU but I doubt a GeForce GTX 460 1024 MB GDDR5 is sufficient enough for WoW Cata?

Will a Q6600 @ 3.4ghz be enough for WoW Cata or do I need a i5/i7?

If youve already got the Q6600 its not worth upgrading no
The 460 will be sufficient, the clues in the fact those machines are custom built for that game
What spec you running now? Can maybe give you upgrade advice

no need for full system upgrade, that gpu can probably still run it at decent settings

yeah could do gfx upgrade, Id prob go for 470 tbh
could also look at a SSD for OS/wow if youre really into it

I don't have a i7 so my Q6600 will bottleneck the 460? and can the 460 actually max it out?

Nope it will not bottleneck it and yes 460 should max it or everything ultra except for shadows on good or so.

Wont my old Q6600 @ 3.4 be a bottleneck for a 470 aswell?

PS: This machine is just to play WoW Cata Maxed.

nope as long as its nicely overclocked it wont bottleneck, heck it can max out other games not just cata

£250 would be great. I'm worried it'll be closer to the £300 mark.
