Right, I really need to get a few things sorted.

Firstly, my CD/DVD isn't appearing. I have already been into the Registry Editor and deleted the upper and lower bounds, all to no avsil.

Secondly, when i plug headphones it, there is always this low level hum, that was never there before i upgraded my computer.

If anyone has any insight on how to fix these, all help would be appreciated.

That's the computer and the two upgrades. Everything works fine, apart from these two small issues.

Right so you've put in a new powersupply and graphics card? Have you checked the power supply connection the CD drive and the ide/sata connection?

Yes, twice now, and the disk tray still opens, showing it has power.

Well from what I hear, you can stop the humming from your headphones by using a grounded plug (all 3 pins brass instead of 2 brass and 1 plastic). I don't know how this helps, but it seems to work for people. It's worth a try, unless you are already using a grounded plug. Some people say get higher impedence headphones (can't help you there, but a bit of research could find what you need).

I have this hum on my laptop, but it's really quiet so I've learned to ignore it.

Does the optical drive appear in the BIOS?

If it doesn't then you need to check the data cabling and make sure the SATA channel your plugging into isn't disabled. If you have spare SATA channels then try using one of them.
