I remember calling my PC a Rig, and probably would still do so in certain circles!

There were always (and still are) all built by me. So, the term seemed to work!

i use "rig" occasionally, usually when im talking about my whole setup (<--- sometimes il just say setup, sometimes pc, or what ever else pops into my head at the time)

i dont see the issue, its a term used often that pretty much everyone knows what it means.

Part of it may be due to the term "jury rigging", it has connotations of a piece of crap that just about works.

Is it just me that despises the term "rig" when used to describe a computer?

I don't understand where it's come from or why people use it so much.

It feels like it's used to make a PC seem greater than it is or something.

Does anyone find the term annoying? Or am I just moaning and being grumpy?

One of the meanings of the word is something you can customize, I.E "rig" it up in this way, that way, etc. Hence people with gaming rigs, musicians with guitar rigs, etc.

And because a lot of enthusiast rigs (HEHEHE) look very industrial, like an oil rig.
