'ring advice

Timer it is then.
I'm surprised the thread in here has so few 'ring times on it.

I didn't see the point in timing when I went in 2007. I also knew I'd get really fired up if the stopwatch was on. It was a totally awesome experience just trying to learn the track and nailing it round some of the tricky sections. There's so much to learn. At some points I was overtaking much much faster cars than mine at other complexes I was way off the pace. It's impossible to appreciate what a massive track it is until you actually drive it. If I went back I would consider timing periodically to see if I could get around ten minutes but more because I would want to see how my driving skills stacked up to the 10 minute marker rather than the need to compete.

By the way there is a lot more ring advise in other threads on the ring. But this summer we had loads of threads about it so many people have probably not bothered to post their advise in this thread due to so many of them cropping up (myself included until now). Might be worth doing a search of some of the old threads and reading them).

ooops epic fail. Surely all of us have not failed to mention that site in this thread have we? I read this site a lot before our trip and it was really helpful in educating me and I then passed most of that on to Kitchster.

Yeah I have to say I was surprised after 2 pages that no-one had mentioned it :o

Hello again, my friend, nice to see you're still around.
I kinda lost the motivation for the forum, but thought I should pop back and see what's been happening.

:)

Well, not much has changed, you have missed a few hundred threads but nothing so much for you to be out of things :p

Snow isn't necessarily a problem (although Ice would probably close it a lot over December/January/Feb).

We were confronted with this on the first morning we were over there at Easter this year:

Yay! Amazing trip :)

Way to go, didn't Dangerous manage to do that a couple of years ago?

Yeah but mine and Tom's trip was more of a reccy weekend. I wanted to find all the good viewing points so thats why I went.

Tom was hoping it was open :p It wasn't!

Isn't Dangerous the resident expert on the Ring ?

He might give you das auto tips TDS.

hah :p The palce is getting far too busy and expensive. Prices of tickets have rocketed up over the last couple of years. This might be a good thing as it might drive the general public away from the palce.

Read Tim Lovejoys pages - Don't time your self you will only end up running out of luck/driver skill ;)
