Yer nan's knickers
As someone who measures his penis size by the badge on his boot lid, I always pay attention to the boot badges of others and there's been a noticeable rise in petrol engines lately, just the other day I saw 3 540is on the same day, and this seems to be trickling down to the cheaper models too, two years ago a higher-end petrol engine would've been a rare thing but they seem to be becoming more common now.

I hope this wasn't a fluke and diesel is actually dying, we can't have crap bikers blaming diesel all the time for their offs, can we?

The government suddenly decided after 17 years that Diesels are actually bad for the environment, having spent the best part of 2 decades trying to get people to switch to them.

Ah bawsaq, this was meant to be in the Motors forum amongst the elites, not you plebs. My apologies :(

Diesel has got to die sooner rather than later - No one in their right mind should even be considering a Diesel car if buying new today.

Cities are beginning to tax you harder for driving Diesel cars - And that will only be pushed more and more.

If you think of them for what they are, a 530 with turbos then they will be more common than the old 540i.

The petrol preference now is because the mass uninformed who originally shifted to diesel for "economy" even though they worked just down the road have switched back.

It's funny that a thread should pop up on this, I've actually been considering going back to a diseazel as I want to do more weekend travelling. It would be ideal having one for this very reason. I've been so conflicted though, given how bad it is for the environment, and people.

Been predicting it for years. Diesel used prices are falling but used petrol cars are holding money. It was obvious from the beginning that diesel was bad but appeared good because the wrong thing was being measured.

Small petrol engines are very efficient now too. It's caused a big problem for car companies such as JLR who have vast swathes of diesel cars now hard to sell.

I hope this isn't too obvious, and it's not just me not having woken up yet :p But why should the fact you want to do more weekend travelling mean that you would buy a Diesel over a Petrol?

diesel still gets way more mpg and costs less if you are doing more miles. that is much more important than the environment.

Because my car drinks fuel and I'd save money in the long run by changing. I did 1000 miles last weekend and spend about £170 on fuel

I'd still choose my diesel over a petrol right now.
Euro6 so pretty clean, £30 a year VED, i do about 20k a year. I average 61mpg and don't have a light foot, car about 230bhp.

I have a diesel, which is about 9 years old now, my next car will be a petrol, but I'm not in any rush to go out and buy a new car just because the government and everyone that has jumped on the "diesel is bad" band wagon.
