the point is, objectively, how many miles do you need p/a to justify diesel.

... fleetnews site had come up in several earlier OC motors posts ... I was hoping someone had investigated it, and knew, if , the free access results, could be trusted
(despite the fact, they obviously, don't disclose the fuel costs going into the calculation)
 
It does seem odd though with European governments slowly pushing diesel out of cities. Petrol hybrid seems the more logical route, like Lexus and Volvo are doing.

It doesn't seem odd because this is not what they are doing, it's just what people seem to think they are doing.

They are pushing older less compliant diesels out.

The CO2 issue hasn't gone away.
 
For now, but it will eventually progress to newer ones. The London mayor even said that. They probably want them all gone before 2040.

The CO2 penalties for fleet average targets remain just as pressing and this is where diesel helps, the new clean ones fix the NOx.
