It’s all documented in their site though, sadly you should have read the shipping section. Welcome to no longer being in the EU.

i did not expect it to be 45 pound they still charged 13 pound delivery its only 1 waterblock and i have used them on many more occasions but no more

It would help if you told the whole story

If anything like other companies they leave it to the courier company to collect the VAT as it is not added or collected by the seller if over a certain amount, think about £135.

Who is demanding the money, courier or EK?

EDIT: It is explained is red on the checkout about this so what is the problem?

Are you having to pay tax to get the item past British customs?

If so, welcome to how the rest of the world works

Someone voted for Brexit without realising what it meant, of course your going to get charged with customs, EK put the full amount on their declaration it's not like buying something off Ebay from China that is always valued at £1.

If it makes you feel better, EK don't see a cent of that. Most of it does right into the governments pocket, so that they can aggressively miss-manage it, and a small amount goes to the courier to cover the additional costs they have dealing with all th extra paperwork required to bring goods in.

As others have said, welcome to Brexit. You have to pay 20% VAT on all goods above £39 and an additional 2.5% on goods costing more than £135. Some companies include all the taxes in what you pay initially though most leave you to get a nice surprise :(

Best part is when Parcelforce charge an additional £13.99 admin fee for paying these taxes on your behalf!

Can't you pay all charges in advance, like Amazon?
Depends on the retailer.
I order a fair bit of kit from other companies in Slovenia and they're all set up to take care of the various UK taxes and fees, which is subsequently included in what they charge you at the point of sale.

Other places refuse to jump through the set of hoops just because the UK says so, whch means they either put the responsibility for paying fees on the receiver (kinda like it used to be), or they just don't sell to the UK-ish people at all.

Even before Brexit, I will never understand people in the UK buying direct from EK. It was never cost effective once Euros was converted and the shipping costs are added. Plus EK is literally everywhere, it's not like you're buying an obscure block from Bykski via AliExpress.

Just came to laugh at all the ******** comments, unnecessary sour grapes. Really a non story. Buy from abroad expect to pay more, how it's been for all but a very short period of time. That said I buy from Big Rainforest US and get free shipping and cheaper price than the UK quite often. Buyer beware

This used to be true for a lot of things, once upon a time.
Nowadays it's often the opposite, where Amazon are the most expensive of all (unless you happen to catch the 20 seconds when something is actually on sale and so priced quite sensibly), and independent retailers in both the UK and often abroad (even with the fees) are able to offer the best prices by a notable margin.
