I read that Raleigh cycles are shutting up shop.

I thought they'd moved production to China years ago but, even so, it's still rather sad to somebody who grew up with Raleigh.

My first 3 bicycles were all Raleigh; started with the Gresham Flyer, then the Jeep before moving to the Twenty.

I never had a Chopper though I always wanted one.

What Raleighs did you own?

Had a Budgie and then a Boxer. Moved to a Commando (I think, was similar to a grifter with 3 gears on a wrist twist thingy) when I was a bit older, think my Dad got it off a bloke in the pub.
I was strangely obsessed with the Tour de France when I was a kid every summer, always said I would get myself a Raleigh Banana team bike when I was older. Never did though.

Just googled some pictures of the old bikes. The Boxer had a plastic mud guard on the front, I wore mine out as you could bend it over on itself and jam it against the tyre to make a cool motorbike sound as you rode. Good times

Love this Vektar. Not seen one of those before

Had a Vektar when I was a kid, was a proper cool bike, until some scrote nicked it.

Had a chopper aswell, but that was before they were cool.

I had a Raleigh grifter although it was second hand when we got it.

Had 3 gears if I recall on a grip shift on the right handlebar, that was colour coded I think..... Blue yellow and red.

Had a couple of bikes in the 80s including my Raleigh Viper BMX. The first proper bike and remember my birthday morning coming down into the kitchen and being overwhelmed with excitement.

Took it out for a blast and instantly felt I was Street Hawk.

Remember the Burner and Aero Burner? Feel they were late 80's and the Aero Burner was like a black and chrome version I think?? I'd already moved brands to Mongoose by then though.

I had a Raleigh Spider, yellow and black with one gear, then got a Grifter with the twist grip to change gears - how great that felt!

My last Raleigh bike was an Arena racing bike that even my Dad used to ride to work sometimes. Had it for years until it got nicked.

Sad to see, had a Raleigh Cobra as a young teenager and had many great times on it, always wanted a Burner but never did get one.

Not just Raleigh but the whole Accell Group (so Haibike, Ghost, Raleigh & Lapierre).

No idea what it means going forward for the brands and warranty, etc. but lots of jobs gone in the UK.

Haibike especially were becoming really popular in the e-mountain bike sector, so it’s a big blow for anyone who’s recently purchased one.

Had a Raleigh Equipe racing bike, the white, grey and yellow one. Decent enough bike and put a lot of miles on it.

Later had a Raleigh mountain bike, which was a nice bike.

Some friends had Raleigh Burners (the black and gold one, and the red and white one), which were a lot lighter than my Viceroy BMX.

Fond memories of the time I got a Raleigh Activator for Christmas, not just a mountain bike but a mountain bike with metallic paint and SUSPENSION :O

One of only two occasions where I was the coolest kid in school (the other being my Adidas Predator football boots lol.

My first bike was a Raleigh Wildcat. Who knew when I was a kid in the 80's I was ahead of my time. Fast forward 30 years and the type of commuters that feel the need to have a GoPro strapped to their helmet are all riding with electronic gizmo's that make siren and laser beam sounds :p

My gravel bike is a Raleigh Mustang and my wife has a Haibike e-MTB which TBH I didn't even realise was part of the same group.
