RIP Steve Irwin

The death of a very brave and very infamous man - he did so much to help and conserve many wildlife, also taught many of us stuff we never knew about of one animal.

RIP.

May his teachings and ideas live on for the future generations and wildlife he have worked so hard to help conserve and protect.

I think he also had a respect for life. He did more good in 1 week than you'll probably do in your life-time. He had a good life. Whats more, he enjoyed what he did!

Corrected.

A great man, and a great loss. :(

Completely ignorant rubbish. Why does there always have to be a muppett posting stuff like this in these type of threads?

Anyway, top bloke and will be sadly missed. At least he passed in a style fitting to the man. Dying of old age - nah. Car accident - nah. Stingray barb right through the heart - that's more like it :) I know that's not much comfort to his family and friends, but I think all of us would choose to go doing something we loved.

R.I.P.

Rubbish, the man is expressing his opinion and not being disrespectful. Let him have his opinion, its what we all are for.

Steve Irwin was one of my favourite entertainers, the passion for life he had was truley a joy to behold.

RIP Steve, you are in a better place.

Quiet. He was being ignorant by stating that the guy didn't respect animals or life itself, which is complete tosh. He lived life to the full and animals were his life.

More information regarding Steves death according to Wiki

Shortly after 11:00am local time on 4 September 2006, Irwin was fatally pierced in the chest by a stingray barb, while diving off Queensland's Great Barrier Reef. The events were caught on camera and the footage is now in the possession of Queensland Police.[22] He had been filming a segment for his daughter Bindi's upcoming television series. Irwin was in the area filming his own documentary, to be called Ocean's Deadliest, but weather had stalled filming. Irwin decided to take the opportunity to film some shallow water shots for his daughter's television program.[23] Some speculate that a cameraman was in front of the ray when Irwin swam over the animal which may have made the creature feel cornered and threatened. In such a case, the animal responds by automatically flexing the serrated barb on its tail (up to 10" long) upward, as it might to ward off the more common danger of being stepped on. The BBC reported that this was only the second known fatality in Australian history from a stingray attack,[24] while The Age lists it as the third.[23]

The Queensland Police Service notified his family and released a statement for the media concerning his death. News of his death prompted a public outpouring expressing shock and loss. Several Australian news websites went down due to high web traffic [25] and talk-back radio experienced a high volume of callers expressing their grief [26], commemorating his passion and exuberance. Prime Minister John Howard, among many other politicians, expressed his "shock and distress" at the death, saying that "Australia has lost a wonderful and colourful son.” [27] Steve Irwin's body was flown to a morgue in Cairns, where stunned family and friends were gathering on Monday night. His wife Terri was informed of her husband's death while on a walking tour in Tasmania, and returned to the Sunshine Coast with their two children.

44 years old, just 4 months older than myself. Not long enough....

:(

It is sad news, and the irony of it, all the dangerous animals he has dealt with over the years, and in the end it was a typically placid ray that killed him :(

I haven't felt like this about a famous person dying since Diana. RIP :(
I was quite shocked to hear the news this morning and have been feeling rather depressed about the subject all day tbph

Top bloke.

R.I.P Steve :(

Shocked. Well and truly shocked. He was a fantastic, enthusiastic bloke who, despite perceiving himself to some as a complete pillock when annoying a snake, did so much for animals and their welfare, as well as being a family man. He earned my respect, no doubt many other people's as well, for his courage, and general enthusiasm. The world's lost a top guy, and he'll be sorely missed.
RIP Stevo.
