RIP Steve Irwin

At least he's one of the few people who won't have anything bad to tint the memory of him. :)

Just such a terrible shame this happened. :(

I'd hardly consider the guy a legend.

He simply earnt his claim to fame by acting wreckless around some of the worlds most lethal creatures.

If he had a greater respect for them and life he'd undoubtedly still be here today.

I don't think anyone else in the world had a greater respect for all of the world's deadly creatures, and if you'd have seen any of his footage you would know this. He just liked being near them and working with them, on and off screen, he was bought up that way.

He had the most respect of the animals. He saved them lots and he spent millions upon million making sure that they are protected and safe.

If he survived that he would have stood up for the Sting ray saying it was just using its instinct or something.

Garbage.

The guy wasn't just a showman on TV. He was a conservationist whose primary thoughts were for animals. He did a hell of lot of good.

More garbage.

The man couldn't have respected the snakes and crocs any more than he did. In his programmes, he often moved snakes and crocs out of the way of people like me and you to save both the animal and human any future suffering.

I think he also had a respect for life. He did more good in his 40 odd years than you'll probably do in your life-time. He had a good life. Whats more, he enjoyed what he did!

There's always one, it's the norm in situations like this.

Fozzybear - agree with everything you said and couldn't have put it better myself. :)

RIP Steve :(

I have nothing but respect for the bloke, him and his team over the years save thousands of lives (animal and human) by re-locating saltwater crocodiles so they wouldn't end up killing somebody and being shot, or rescuing other animals (dangerous or otherwise).

Its his family I feel sorry for...

Completely ignorant rubbish. Why does there always have to be a muppett posting stuff like this in these type of threads?

Anyway, top bloke and will be sadly missed. At least he passed in a style fitting to the man. Dying of old age - nah. Car accident - nah. Stingray barb right through the heart - that's more like it :) I know that's not much comfort to his family and friends, but I think all of us would choose to go doing something we loved.

So true, could never picture him dying in his bed as an old man. Don't think I'd like to die doing my job though, wouldn't fancy being crushed by loads of video equipment :p

RIP Stevo

Always enjoyed his shows. Showed enthusiasm in absolutely everything he did. His enthusiasim seemed to pass to anyone watching or near him.

Prime example of how success can be achieved if you work hard enough and care enough about something.

Not many people loved animals the way he did and im gutted that hes dead.

A true legend.
