Rise Of The Tomb Raider PC Patch Adds DX12 Multi-GPU & ASync Compute Support & More

No gains for me on my 1080 sadly but DX12 has improved over the previous DX12 patch.

I wonder what they says about 1080 async implementation then, as it's always been furiously discussed. Could have implications for the 1070 / 1080 performance against AMD over the next 1-2 years.

I say this being an owner of a MSI 1080 Gaming X also.

Not sure what is going on and trying to run at a lower res to allow the CPU to bottleneck caps frames at 120 in DX12, so I can't let that happen either. I could drop my CPU clocks but CBA with that I do know that NVidia really have DX11 nailed though and get great performance from it.

I also got a slight bit of flicker on the dome in the second scene in DX12, which isn't the bestest but quite happy with DX11 performance anyways. Good to see some decent gains for AMD users on DX12 though

Its a nice improvement, dx11=84.65fps, dx12=93.71fps. Textures on high(vhigh=vram exeeded), everything else maxed out @ 1440p. AA through sweetFX profile still.

Personally it makes no difference for me FPS wise as im hitting the vsync cap anyway, but would be a nice improvement for those with less powerful cards.

According the patch notes only Pascal from the NVIDIA lines supports it in their game as well. Sucks for Maxwell :/

Maxwell cards just wont see a big benefit from using async compute, and the implementation would have to be different to Pascal to be worthwhile. A future patch might add async compute for Maxwell cards but that just depends on the priorities of the developers.

I would like to see some other 1080 owners post their results. I am wondering if I am doing summit wrong lol, as there looks to be nice gains across the Maxwell range that I have seen but not seen any Pascal results to compare.

was quite keen to do it but not paying £40 just to run a benchmark. Let's hope there is a sale soon :)

I run a bench later ...;)
Tried to take a screenshot by using print screen & Fraps but none of them worked..

Overall score DX11 = 32fps at 3440x1440 with max setting as Kaapstad bench thread on here (with my GTX 1080 FE at stock clocks)
Overall score DX12 = 29fps at 3440x1440 with max setting as Kaapstad bench thread on here (with my GTX 1080 FE at stock clocks)

Kaapstad bench thread for settings = https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18722471&highlight=tomb+raider

The DX11 score the same as before
but I never ran the DX12 benchmark before this new patch..

I thought when the first dx 12 patch came along, we were told that async was being used? So now it was never implemented in the first place??? Would certainly explain the lack lustre improvements for AMD cards first time round now...

Funny timing this eh.....

Anyway,

Very nice improvement on my PC  Shame it took this long for improvements though as I will probably never play the game again...
