Hey guys,

I was giving my pc a clean up today so as per usual i took everything out and then put everything in. Problem is that windows is not detecting my 6gb of ram. Only 1 stick of 2gb is being detected.

I took all the sticks out and tested one by one and they seem to be working ok. I also found out that only 1 memory bank is working on the motherboard, i.e. only 1 ram stick is being read. The other 5 do not work.

To add insult to injury after re-seating my cpu water cooler i found out that the cpu slot on the motherboard had some unusual looking pins, they seem slightly bent. I tried straightening them but i don't think they are ok.

Could the problem be due to that? or is there something else causing it. I have taken every thing out 3 times and put it back in but it has not worked.

Can i RMA the mobo? Right now last thing i want is to get a new one :(

Please help.

im pretty sure if you have bent pins on it, you cant rma it, maybe if it had came new in the box like tha you could, but not if you have done it yourself

its a very strong possibility that the the cause, but to be honest, if the pins are bent i really wouldnt power the thing up, just incase it decides to short out your processor, or worse, blow it all to kingdon come

iv had this happen before to an older 775 system, and it didnt go too well unfortunately when i tried to straighten them, they broke off, rendering my board useless, might be worth an e-mail to the manufacturer and see if they can offer some sort of fixing service

asus wont repair, even if you offer to pay,ive tried very hard and they just refused

bent pins will cause memory problems because the cpu integrated memory controller is built into the cpu

post a pic of the pins if you can,if its not too bad you can straighten them yourself but be carefull not to snap any off!! they break easily

op already posted a link with the pic

thanks i missed that

heres what i can see but they look broken/snapped off to me? unless they are very badly bent upwards, cant tell from that angle

they dont seem broken but definitely out of place from where i can see. I have tried moving them but it does not seem to work.

By the way, i will look into getting it repaired but if it is going to cost me a lot and not to mention time without a pc, what would be a comparable mobo to get? I do not want to spend a lot, something which is similar would suffice.
