RMA rules?

So you don't have to agree to that part of the licence agreement if you install MSI Afterburner and use it with MSI graphics cards?

I clicked on it with my Twin Frozr III and I never saw anything that said I can overclock it at their risk. I was under the impression if I broke it by OC'ing it was my own fault.

Bhavv you should email MSI and ask them.

Hello,

We will not cover a unit under warranty if there are physical damages found on the unit. Otherwise if an issue arises from the use of the afterburner utility the unit will still be covered under warranty. Thank you.

That part of the licence is obviously there so that MSI cant be held responsible for non MSI video cards being buggered by their software.

The problem I have though is when running any stress tests or benchmarks, including furmark, heaven, 3D mark, I don't get a single error or crash with 2400 Mhz vram overclock. When disabling SLI, I have no problems in any game with the top card running up to 2500 MHz ram.

When running games with SLI enabled, I get artifacts almost right away with any Vram overclock, and it still happens if I drop down to stock speeds. Stress testing indicated 2400 MHz ram was stable, games say when activating SLI, my second card isn't.

I havnt bothered testing the second card alone in the top slot yet though, it could just be an issue with SLI compatibility or something.

@ bhavv

An interesting answer but I would have hoped it would be stated explicitly in the warranty conditions.

I'm pretty sure I saw that it was and mentioned by MSIs marketting, and their warranty information on their graphics cards (not on their afterburner software T+Cs) which is what convinced me to buy them. MSI, Asus, XFX and EVGA all provide warranty support for software overclocked / overvolted cards. Gigabyte don't specify it, but according to customer support on their forums I was told that even if I had modified and overclocked a Gigabyte card, they would still honor the warranty as long as it was returned unmoddified, even if you told them 'I overclocked the card and used a custom cooler and it worked fine at first, but now its not working at stock speeds anymore', Gigabyte won't refuse to provide warranty service on the card.

They do it purely to match the competitions warranty, and so that they don't lose enthusiast customers to EVGA.
