Lovely looking frame! Who did you order through and how much did you pay?

Yea it seems like a very nice frame, looking forward to testing it, i went through Velobuild.com its a Dengfu FM098, i paid £390 but had a few other bits with the order and went for the matte laqure with is +$40. Frame and forks alone as one order would be about £300

600... :o are they made out of gold?

Nah :p. They're a "pro cycling" glasses, a Uvex frame used by lots of teams which are about £150 to the public, but the lenses are what make up the cost. Trivex (superthin/light and shock resistant) lenses, prescription, reactive, anti-reflective, anti-misting and a hydrophobic coating. Fortunately all I had to pay for was the lab time to make the lenses.

Well, it keeps the wind and objects out of my eyes, and as I have an astigmatism prescription I can see properly without getting headaches :p.

Benfits of hydrophobic coating/anti-misting is that water beads off them pretty instantly and they don't steam or mist up.

Benefits of anti-reflection make headlights and other lights much easier to look at/harder to get suddenly blinded.

Benefits of reactive are they're good in any conditions, and the reaction is fast.

Benefits of Trivex are they're super strong (rated to stop bullet shrapnel like Oakleys) so will stop stones, branches etc. High abbe value, so sharp image and very good for peripheral vision. And they way next to nothing, so are super comfortable in the already very lightweight frame.

Also - importantly 100% UV A/B protection. Seriously, if you dont need them for anything else get glasses for this.

Good news

My Canyon Roadlite AL 6 arrived today :)

Bad news

They forgot to give me Tyres, Innertubes and quick releases :(

Congrats but also wth that's some sloppy QC. How does one pack a bike in a box and not notice it's missing tyres?

No, I've done thousands of miles w/out ever wearing them. What am I missing out on?

Hopefully my edit will help :).

In all seriousness, UV A/B is the biggest issue (my wife recommends sunglasses for even overcast conditions if its reasonably bright). You don't need some stupidly expensive glasses (I wouldn't get them if I didn't get them free), just a decent pair that meet certain safety standards. Most will, but be careful - (grudas) especially buying off Ebay - as you won't know who has made the lenses so can't actually verify they meet standards even with a label/sticker saying that they do.

Is that a ChiVenge? :p And what are the benefits of wearing glasses whilst cycling?

Yep lol, im actually really surprised, it seems like a bike, looks like a bike, but didnt cost what a bike should cost:p

Interested to see how it rides compared to my mates Venge and my Canyon

Watch out for the Chinese newspaper stuffed into the forks and tubing.:D

Cheers I've never worn glasses for anything and have 20/20 vision. But it seems like it could be a preventative measure ie from potentially getting cataracts in the future. Might get a cheapy £15 pair and see how I get on :)

Up to now what have you done for sunny rides? (not many this year I know!)

I ride my bike like any other day. I just focus on the road & surroundings rather than staring straight at the sun :p

Edit: I used to drive up to 50k miles a year and never wore glasses & never had eye problems so I think I'm partly conditioned/used to it now where as if you do wear sunglasses all the time then you're probably more sensitive w/out than I am.

Yep, the most important thing for you will be the UV protection.

Fair enough, I don't think eyes develop a tolerance to harmful radiation though!:p

UV damage aside, I'm just not prepared to take the risk of losing my vision due to a pebble being flicked up into my eyes.
