Right. I need a commuting rucksack that has a (preferrably waterproof) laptop pocket for a 13" laptop, and plenty of other pockets without being ridiculously big. As much as I want it, I don't think the Rapha will store enough things (most days I just bring laptop/lunch, but occasionally I need to be able to store a towel and change of clothes without it changing the shape/over bulking it too much.

Built in high vis/waterproof cover would be a nice bonus but not necessary.

To fit all those things you're definitely looking at a 25 or 30 litre backpack so it's going to be big-ish. Someone will have a better recommendation than me for the bag itself but you could buy one of those microfiber travel towels to cut down on space, they pack very small.

Edit: also, how about a waterproof sleeve for your laptop? That way you're not limited on bag choice and can just get one with a rain cover.

Yes re the size it occasionally needs to be big, so compression straps are a must. And yes I guess a waterproof sleeve is a better idea.

Shaped for cycling/padded for comfort and airflow?

The guy who makes them is a keen cyclist and active member on LFGSS, theyre definitely comfortable, and the shape is nice and slim but still reallly big so it doesnt obstruct your view when cycling, the side pockets fit most d-locks, its also really waterproof

Its not just designed for cycling though it makes a great bag for long weekends away!

He hasn't added mesh or anything to the rear as really, its all a marketing gimic, I've had mesh backed backpacks and still end up as sweaty and the mesh feels wierd against your back when its full.

Cant go wrong with the GP4000S IMO, great tyre.
I'm currently trying out the GP Force/Attack combo, also fantastic up to now!

I put a GP4000 on new on monday evening after swapping from schwalbes,

got a puncture yesterday...

hoping i was just incredibly unlucky aha (could have been a slow pinch flat )
