Has anyone noticed on Strava how often you tie with people? Two segments I did today are longish and I ended up doing the same time as a few other people to the second, I just find it a bit unlikely!

172.5 seems to be popular these days on all new bikes. I personally prefer 170mm cranks and can feel a big difference especially over the top of the pedal stroke. Cavendish uses 170mm cranks too :p

Theres a never ending discussion in the Cycling News forum about crank length. http://forum.cyclingnews.com/showthread.php?p=1150127.

That's an epic thread, funny how it's essentially summed up on the first page though :D

The people on the Cycling News forum are impressively bitter, they seem to hate pretty much everyone in the peloton and spend the whole time bitching about how badly structured every race and stage is. Yet they all keep tuning in to watch...

its stupid on some of the segments i should be a lot higher.. for .e.g there's one segment where im 3rd downhill and a guy in 1st place has a speed of 30mph avg, looking at his graph he never went above 25! yet i sit at 29ish avarage and i sat over 28 pretty much all the way down, getting up to 34 for a little.

he has been sitting in 1st place since 2010 (which i guess is when strava first opened up?)

:mad::(:(:(:(

FFS Canyon, where's my bike?!

Speaking to the people at the UK service centre, I just get told "We don't have access to find out the status of specific bikes, but yours is due to ship 'this week' and then it'll take 5-8 working days to arrive".

They've been saying that since Mon. They've got until CoP tomorrow to dispatch it, after that I'm cancelling it. It was an impulse buy anyway so I'm sure my credit card will be happy if I do.

I ordered on the 30th of April. How long can it take to swap a stem and then stick the bike in a box?

Must be so frustrating, for you Damien! But at the same time, don't cancel it! You've earned yourself a decent bike for the miles you're putting in and the weight you've managed to shift. If you do cancel make sure you order yourself something nice from elsewhere. *Bro Hug*

It makes it like pro-cycling, finish in the bunch, get the same time :p

I'd potentially flag that for bad GPS data and Strava will have a look at it. There was a similar one on a local segment where a girl had apparently done 65km/h for a short flat segment but her max speed on the ride was 32km/h. Don't know how that happens.

It's just a bit frustrating when you hammer yourself chasing a segment and Strava just goes "meh, have the same time as some other guy".

The missus got Strava last month and is hoovering up all the local QOMs. Very competitive personality! :D She's sitting on 573km for the May Massive as well, kudos to her.

Aww, cheers *Bro Hug*

If I do end up cancelling (which I don't want to because for the price that Canyon is pretty pimp) I'll probably just go for my 2nd choice with is the Cube Agree.

That being said, there's nothing technically wrong with my current bike. I've just got the n+1 itch.

The speed you manage on that heavy CX with a 46 tooth ring, you really ought to get a decent dedicated road bike. I'm in no huge rush to move up to a better bike, because my fitness is holding me back more than the bike is, but I reckon you're definitely at the point where your bike is holding you back.

I'm planning on going out scouting tonight to see if I can figure a decent route taking in Foxholes for us to do one evening next week, assuming you don't do it with Wally and everyone this weekend. Looking at it, it's probably somewhere between Angelzarke and The Rake in terms of difficulty. 15-20% for the last hundred yards.

Had a ride in the wind and rain and cold after work, very English weather. Started off at 10c and went down from there.

My Assos 851 gloves worked a little too well, fine on the flat, my hands got a bit sweaty on a long climb, then descending they froze as the wind cut right through them.

Still 63km down and average of almost 29kmh.

The Fulcrum Racing 3 wheels look good for the money, compatible with Shimano 11 speed and weigh just over 1550g.

I liked the 2011 Cervelo RS frame, CRC had on sale for £1150 (sold now) add an Ultegra group set and some decent wheels, bit of finishing kit and you would have a bike much better than the one linked to above for not much difference.

Fine, I'll wait a bit longer. :)

I was hoping to have it for this weekend. I'm not going to be able to take it on a decent ride until the tour of the peak on the 2nd now.

Edit: I could ride it to work I suppose...

How do you carry your phone whilst out? is is strapped to one of the bands you out around your arm or do you have holder for the bike?

Turns out I can get Strava on my Windows Phone. My commuting stats pales, but it gives me room to improve. Hopefully.

I stick it in the jersey pocket/zipped if I'm not commuting.

What sportives have you lot signed up for this summer then? I haven't entered any yet, want to see what the most popular ones are :) I'm in staffordshire but willing to travel pretty much anywhere.
