I nearly ran over a squirrel on my ride home from work tonight. Stupid thing was crossing the road, saw me, froze then turned to run away. Halfway back towards the curb it suddenly turned back and bolted back right in front of me. I missed it by maybe 3 inches. I don't think it would have done too well under my wheels... Nor would my slicks have gripped it too well. I wonder if it would have thrown me off my bike? Probably not.
Anyone hit any livestock on their racing bike?
You dont seem to be too far away. What happened at ~50mins? looks like the average speed dropped quite a bit around that time.
Difficult to get exact calculations from the graph, but it looks to me like you did the first 20 miles in around 50 mins. That averages 24mph.
Just need to build up your endurance a little to keep up the speed for those last 5 miles.
I have similar situation it just stopped or changed its mind and I rode over its tail I think.

Something different
LOLOL
His quick release was unlocked?
I'd have thought I should already have the endurance, I do chaingang on Saturday then the stronger riders usually break off, so we broke off and about 4 of us was pushing it, I think it was 87 miles @ 21.5 average.
Might be for a triathlon? I think ITU rules use those short aerobars but allow drafting. Is that TTT practice or something?
I agree, it clearly gives an advantage to the stronger runners who can sit on the back of the stronger cyclists then run away from them. It's daft of the ITU to allow drafting in what is an individual discipline, it makes no sense.
Thats a good pace. I doubt i could keep up that pace for 87 miles with only 4 guys, but i think i could get under the hour in a 25 on a good day.
How are you pacing yourself in the TT?
Are you able to stay in your tt position for the whole race? (position looks good tho)
Do you do much training in your tt position?
Have you done a "real" 25 before (not a training ride)? You always ride faster with a number on your back.

I've not done a real 25 before now, first one will be September 24th.
I did one around my area and did 1 hour 4 28 about a month ago.
What surprised me to be honest is that it was a relative piece of cake.......Onwards and upwards![]()
I'm selling my car to see if i can manage with just my bike, all I need is a lock and a waterproof jacket. Any suggestions? My budget is about £40 on each.
I've come across a Kryptonite KryptoLok Series 2 Standard Lock & Flex Cable @ £23 which seems cheap, priced around £35 in the shops but has mixed reviews. I was under the impression if someone wanted to steel your bike they would lol. My bike is worth about £500.
Jacket wise... I was thinking the Altura Nevis.
Thanks
I'd get the kinetic for the extra tenner as it just feels a lot better made with a better material. The nevis is like a plastic like feel and is all wrustly...the kinetic has a better texture to it.
It sounds as though you are after a mountain bike jersey rather than a road one. I have a few of these which are quite good for the price, I tend to wear them in the winter when arm warmers alone don't cut it. There is a short sleeve version if that's your sort of thing, too.Can anyone recommend some nice long tshirts / loose jerseys, for those of us who need their tshirts ironed over a wok? Normal Tshirts (Even 3XL tend not to be long enough without me mooning car drivers. Don't want any sort of tight / contoured jerseys, so not sure of fits etc!
