It is strange. I wear XL Assos (I have a pair of their full length Winter bibs), so when I ordered the Castelli Body Paint bibs, I got the XL and they were too big, so sent them back for the L. Haven't tried any of their other range though.

It's a pain when there's no consistency between manufacturers, but worse when there's none in a manufacturer's own range!

Hi, about to make my first foray into road cycling after being solid DJ/Dh for the last 2 years. Been offered this cycle2 work scheme and can have £1k worth of bike with 27% off overall.

Have been looking at the Ribble Sportive Bianco, anyone heard much about these? Googling them they seem to get rave reviews apart from the customer service!
 
That does seem to be the general opinion from people. My only worry is what sort of weight/abuse the bikes can take.

I am around 16 stone (slowly gone down from 21st thanks to mountain bikes!), and wasn't sure if the standard spec wheels, Rodi airline clinchers 4, would be capable of my weight. The bike comes in at 870 so could spend up to £130 on their bike configurator getting some stronger wheels? I was thinking that or possibly go a step up on the groupset?

The gran fondo looks VERY sexy!

My best mate's got a Sportive Bianco, it's lovely. Another good friend has a stealth and that's really nice as well - both of them had no trouble at all with customer service. it does seem like they were lucky though.

There is literally a guy in sales who deals with ALL the calls, if he is on the line it goes to the warehouse and they can't help usually!

That's my experience phoning as B2B.

Other shock this week as RST Uk warranty appears to be done by a guy and his wife,in a barn,at a farm down south somewhere! Professional as **** :o

Ribble not being the cheapest? Where else is cheaper? *Most* of the stuff is buttons above what a business can buy it at.
 
Yeah, i've noticed ribble to be a bit random with pricing too.
Some things are significantly cheaper than other online shops and some things are more expensive.
Their bikes are good prices tho, PlanetX is the only other place i can think of that gets close to their price:spec ratio

The wheels will be fine I reckon. I used Airline 1's on my mountain bike and they took an absolute pounding on the event I used them for. Afterwards they were still running perfectly true. Keep your tyres pumped up though. Your added weight might make you a bit more vulnerable to pinch-punctures, so maybe think about running 25mm wide tyres which will have a little more cushion than 23mm.

The only time I've heard of people's weight being a problem is with an all-titanium Raleigh frame from the 90's. It was an ultra light racing frame and a few folk on Retro Bike aired concerns about heavier guys riding them. Everything is very strong these days though.
 
I forgot to mention. Someone left their fibre flare in the changing room so I had a play with it when I was getting changed. SOLD. Just what I'm looking for.

Does anyone have any experience with the Louis Garneau Sotchi gloves they sell at Evans? I tried a pair on in the shop and really liked them, but... £45!!! :eek:

This is annoying because they've discontinued the Gore Windstoppers I had (and loved) and these are the closest I've been able to find.
