Under 30ft/mile? Do you even climb, bro? :p

*looks at number of KOMs.. 1? ha*

bro do you even ride fast? ;) there's no climbing to be done in london.. especially my commute which is seriously "hilly" having to climb brixton hill every day ;)

but that comment was obviously a joke..

Welcome to the Peak District ;) Some really nice climbs around that way. Brickworks being one of my favorites. I did 24 hill reps during the Rapha Rising challenge.

What the hell!? That takes mental strength. I'd be bored to tears after the third climb.

What about all the other hundreds of awesome hills in the peaks? They feel left out! :(

As was mine, obvs :p Otherwise this discussion ends with Rafal Majka turning up and calling us all a bunch of wimps.

yes.. but wouldn't that make all flat/downhill etc segments invalid? ;) mountain is probably a pile of people in strava's mind.

all flat/downhill segments should be invalid for anyone to boast about - they're far too prone to drafting!

I do think strava should have some other kind of category for something like a time trial segment, e.g. Richmond Park lap time

but it doesn't matter how you got there? i mean if you've got wind the back up a hill that makes it easier too than a headwind blowing straight in your face on 12% bit? so drafting, flat etc is valid.. as long as it is done a bicycle and it's not a GPS error then I don't care.. fact is if you've managed to cover that segment/distance the fastest out of everyone so? what am I missing? I know you love hills but I'm just saying

Case in point being the guy who sat on my back wheel for a mile yesterday, picking up a top 10 segment whilst I got 17th. Not. Bitter. At. All.

Of course, wind and stuff will help up a hill but not as much on the flat

I think I'm just fed up of the number of daft segments out there!

Segments where you can draft are pretty much meaningless (in fact, most segments are meanlingless anyway :p).
There is a climb nearby on our chaingang route. A nice steady 2% gradient for a little over a mile.
I had the KOM for a while with an average speed of 24mph up this climb riding in a bunch.
I then lost it to a mate who was riding up it behind a tractor averaging 27mph!
Neither of us would be at the top if we were not drafting.

I only use segments for comparing my own historical times now.

hey guys, quick question. Hybrid bike, guy who weights 175 pounds (80 kilos). Should I inflate my tyres to 60-70 PSI? That's my understanding after a quick google...

This, combined with power meter as a huge head or tailwind will obviously affect it. I got second best ever power for a climb tonight but didn't even make the top ten of my own results due to others being during races or with tailwinds.

I have second best time on a segment of 1500 riders in the UK because I drafted a truck downhill....
