Only did an hours ride today as the wind was too bad, got blown off the road a couple of times:o. Saw a couple out on Bromptons riding across the moors who didn't look like they were having much fun in the wind :D

Rubbish. Started changing the spoke last night, forgot to get a cassette tool to get the damned thing off! Down tools until I can get to Halfrauds :(

I feel your pain - even with my lowly weights :p I think if you can possibly squeeze something in at home it's the way to go, though I can see your point about getting out/gym partner stuff. Unfortunately my main gym partner has moved on to do stuff at ridiculous times in the morning with his gf and tbh even when he was up for stuff I'd often want to do my own thing at my own times so....

Basically I just need to bite the bullet and get something set up. Also, make sure that doing so won't really **** off the guy I live with :p

would be easy for.. my brother is into lifting too.. hha.. but I prefer going to gym, makes things easier :)

what's wrong with gym btw? is it time? or do you simply dislike going?

Without wishing to be rude, but aren't you two in the wrong thread if you want to flirt over your weightz?

it's cycling related.. ;)

It's a combination of the time to get there and the amount of time I'm waiting around to use the squat rack/etc. If I do stuff at home I can get it done and out of the way and be good to go for doing more stuff in the evening - if I have to cycle to the gym I often won't be back until 7 or 8.

I don't mind actually being at the gym and doing weights. I got over feeling self concious pretty quickly (aside from when I fail at chin ups :p).

We kept the sexting out of the thread. Surely that's enough? :(

Core strength exercises FTW, everything else is meh.

Only got an hour to spare? Tabata Protocol for FTP gainz.

Hadn't heard of that but it sounds very interesting. I might give it a try :)

edit: Looks pretty similar to some of the HIIT type stuff I've seen floating around. Is that a fair assessment?

Moved up to a faster group for this weeks club ride, and it turned out to be a lumpy one with 3,000ft of climbing over 55 miles. Managed a 15.3mph average which isn't bad considering how slow we were up the hills. Legs are feeling it now though :( Haven't really had sore/weak legs for awhile actually.

Took yesterday off cycling to look after a mate who broke his collarbone on first day of cycling holiday! Today i cycled 52miles in 3hrs through a gorge and out other side to Avignon. Quick pace that i impressed myself with. Could comfortably do 22/23mph on flat mile after mile. :) Even up climbs i was strong. Really surprised myself.

On Eurostar back now. So 2 mountains, loads of Cols, 1 breakdown, 0 punctures, maybe buckled wheel after todays ride, about 210-220miles on 4 rides. :)

Not a bad introduction into mountain cycling. I tell you what though - no wonder the French are so strong at cycling with alps on doorstep!! What a place!!

Whats the Eurostar like for taking your bike? Looking to do something a bit more adventurous next year and don't fancy taking my bike on a plane

took my wheels to a LBS today - £14.50 for two wheels re-trued and replace a missing spoke. What a bargain! Last place I went to was more like 20 for one wheel!

So annoying that the coloured Michelin Pro4's are only available in 23mm - would love some Digital Blue coloured 25mm for the missus' bike. Any alternatives for That Bianchi Colour tyres in 25mm?

Only a short ride for me this evening, but that included some berk starting a 3 point turn just in front of me, so I had to nip behind him and hope I made it past before he reversed, a taxi driver turning right on a roundabout across my path when I had right of way, and some idiot pedestrian ambling into the road without looking either way such that I had to swerve round him. Argh!

Pretty much. Tabata was one if the first studies to show it offered greater benefits than base miles.

Right, makes sense. I am almost at the point where I want to approach my cycle training in a more structured way so I will probably do this. :)

What a tube, dumb enough to do it to start with but to do it with no brakes...
