I know they don't get a vast amount of recommendations compared to Duranos/Schwalbe etc, but I've been using Continental Sports for over 2 years and they're lovely and fast and I haven't had a single puncture in that time.

Tempting fate there my friend! ;)

I managed to do half an hour on the turbo this morning. Definitely feeling much better so hope to commute 1/2 days next week and go back to training on Thursday.

Cleats are fitted and been around the block twice with them. Kinda guessed with configuring them as it's difficult to do it by myself. Guess i'll just pedal carefully for the next few days and adjust them over time. Took me a while to figure out how to actually clip in tbh, hopefully this will become second nature quickly.

Bloomin' 'eck though you can go much faster with clipless!

Ultremo's in winter? Are you mad? Winter is all about puncture resistance nothing else, fixing puncture at -2 in the dark 20 miles from home isn't recommended.

Training in winter is a pain. I train as much as I can tolerate so I have a good level for the spring/summer it makes it all worth it. With a spring marathon coming up I should be in good form.

Ok it's official, i love clipless.

Though i did have two moments when climbing a hill that i accidentally unclipped, quite scary. Think i need to up the tension a bit, the lowest on M520s is clearly a little too low.

Oh and 16 miles cycled today in 1:03, did take a break at the halfway point to put up a fence at my parents house i must confess! Not as if i put my feet up and had a rest though. Still nowhere near as good as most of you lot, but improving all the time.

Got out for 40 miles today my average speed was 15mph finished it in 2:40, I hate hills so much I had 5 miles of hills on my return and they hurt a lot :D Managed not to look like I was struggling when I saw a big group of riders coming the other way.

I've not swung my leg over a saddle since Dec 19th so to quote Jean Bobet, 'Tomorrow, we ride!'

Also, after 4 months I've finally given the lower limit screw a turn and a half so I can get to the 23.

Just reading the book a Race for Madmen and Bobet was mentioned is his book any good?

Should be getting a free bike next week. It's only an old retro raleigh road racer from god knows when but been looking for a run around road bike for a while so it should be perfect.

Going to change the wheels on it straight away and replace the bar tape. Other than that will update as it breaks as long as it rides ok.

Happy Days :D

Pulled out the bike this morning to go for a ride, only to find a flat rear. On closer inspection there's about an 8mm slice after being cut through my Schwalbe Ultremo ZX and also nicked the tube causing the flat.
Now I've repaired the tube, but am worried about the tyre. Will the slit travel once pumped up to pressure and riding it again? How dangerous is it? I'm about to order a replacement tyre anyway, but this could end up very costly if I've to keep replacing tyres that get shredded!

Why not get some Michelin Lithion Tyres, Race style with some good winter protection! They're on offer at Ribble! >

Just ordered a set to replace my cross tyres - I do more road riding than off road. The above tyres were well recommended by cycling friends .

Right, booked my London Bike Show tickets. Will be sure to take my camera to capture some bike porn.

I'm in the market for some new clipless pedals and maybe some shoes so will be keeping my eye out.

I'd also like to get rid of my compact chainset and go to a tri, but need a heap of advice. Only reason is that when I did my sportive I really struggled with the steep steep hills and could really do with some lower gears for those. What's the best way to go about it?

Refer to #5 of the cycling rules? :p

...sorry for the unhelpful post! :)

What day are you going? I've taken a half day on Thursday, so hopefully there will be some cool stuff.

Aren't you going to try a 12-28 cassette first?
