That's why you see people with their right trouser leg rolled up. That is, if they're not trying to be mid-90's gangsta, but you'd spot this by the afro puffs and comb.

If the mud+oil is wiping off your chain onto your trousers, it might then soak down and make a mess of your shoes as well.

I'v had this before, rather than your shoes actually touching the chain. Its usually quite easy to spot the difference between them tho.

On closer inspection i reckon you're right. The grease is only around the very top of the shoe around the ankle when logic would dictate that it would in fact be all the way down the shoe as it passed over the chain if it were making contact.

Not too worried about my trousers, they're rubbish anyway! Just don't want to hurt the bike D:

Fairly normal. I'm contemplating having a black quarter cog tattooed on the inside of my right calf since I've got the pattern there pretty much permenantly already.

Lulz. I did always wonder why, during the summer, many pretty ladies wearing skirts in London would have black smudges on their right leg.

Went to the London Bike Show today. Was not too bad at all. Took some photos on my Galaxy II S (will pop them up tomorrow). Bought a nice box of Torq bars, and an Endura Transmission base layer. I also bumped into the guys that work on the Road.cc web site, so I said hello and told them I enjoyed their work. They gave me a pair of Road.cc socks as the first person to recognise them at the show :)

The new Cervelo R5 is stupidly light. The Colnago C59 is stupidly light as well.

The Sigma stand had an R3 in white and blue. I had an orgasm. Twice. I want one :)

The Bianchi stand had an Infinito in Celeste. I want one of those as well. With Super Record. Oh, it's happening again... :)

Oh, and I was chatting to they guys at the Garmin stand who showed me some new pedals with a built in power meter. Amazing. Adds 50g to the weight of the pedals, which is miles less than any comparable power meter. Downside is £1000 cost at retail :(

Did you have a play with the Pinarello Dogma with the new Campag EPS system?
I'd never actually had a play with electronic shifters and after seeing what the Di2 was like on the McLaren I was really impressed. Then had a play with the Dogma that Cavendish will probably be riding this year....it just feels beautifully engineered even down to the robotic sound when shifting and auto-trimming. Well out of my league though but one can dream!!

Lots of eye candy there too and not just the bikes :D

Yes! I had a look at a Movistar one - got some photos. Also got photos of Cav's new World Champion Dogma - understated and very nice!

You'll have to upload some choice photos when you get the chance....if you want to that is! :) I forgot my camera then realised that I could have used my phone! All in all the show was much better than last year. Surprised that Campag and Shimano weren't there but it was good to see Madison starting to sell stuff at the show as they were boring as hell last year just standing around the Shimano gear with not much to do or say.

Really enjoyed watching the bike polo too. They have some awesome skill. Also that dude doing acrobatics at the animal display was pretty cool.

For anyone who's thinking of going, an opening day video here:

A little write-up from Cycling weekly with some nice pics:

If anyone went to the LITS show, this was probably 50 times bigger and you really can spend a good few hours there!

Guy I ride with has got one. Not built it up yet but I'm looking forward to seeing it in the flesh.

He was actually after an S3 but the one he got form Primera was damaged. Sent it back and they couldn't get hold of a replacement. As a result he was unfortunately forced to shell out for an S5.

Life can be so cruel sometimes.

I'm weighing my options. We're saving for a new house - but! I've done well financially last year, gotten a surprise bonus, and I have a job interview next week. A hefty pay rise, so you never know..fingers crossed. It's also a move back up north to some hills!

Right good and knowledgeable folk of the OcUK Road Cycling thread. I have one old Peugeot bicyle, a Reynolds 531 hand buttressed frame that I wish to "do up". I have not yet decided to convert it to a fixed gear bike, or keep it as a 10 speed, but what is certain is it needs some TLC.

I would like to: strip it with a angle grinder+wirebrush, get it powder coated, and then do it up in the livery of the old Peugeot professional cycling team. I have searched high and low for livery/sticker kits but can't find anything. Anyone able to suggest something or someone who could do it?

And potentially lower living costs.......
Not initially if we get the mortgage of her dreams, because it has to be "a large house with enough bedrooms for the kids [ed: to come I assume], and enough room for guests [ed: her folks live in reasonable distance of the job - help!]with some land and a utility room."

Meh - I'm not optimistic at the best of times, and its the first job interview I've had in 6 years so I won't hold my breath.

Thats interesting, we have just been through exactly the same thing with an old bike my dad has - right down to researching the peugeot team colours and looking for stickers (couldnt find any).
If your going to get it powdercoated, i would recommend getting them to prep the frame for you. It's a lot of work to do yourself.
If you do prep it yourself, you can get a 'paint remover' drill attachment instead of a wire brush. Its a bit softer and is less likely to damage the frame (and, not surprisingly, its actually better at removing paint as well :p)
Its very difficult to get all of the paint out of the small corners in the frame, especially the little triangle bit behind the bottom bracket.

Post some pics of your progress - im quite interested in this :)

edit: Oh, also, buy yourself this :p

Remember that interviews work both ways; you want the right job and they want the right person so you are interviewing them just as much as they are interviewing you.

Oh, and how about these: http://www.yellowjersey.org/peudecal.html

Apparently these guys can get hold of anything or can tell you who can get it for you: http://www.hlloydcycles.com/
