The biggest niggle with this excellent bike (for me) was that you could only fit 25mm tyres with mudguards.
That isn't enough for winter commuting (IMO) as I find it is harder to see pot holes and avoid them in winter therefore a 28mm tyre will give more cushioning and better puncture protection (Panaracer Pasela - Kevlar).

Shimano 105 for £600

105 for that price range is an amazing deal! It's the latest 105 as well (11 speed!).

I've not seen many road frames have space for 28mm tyres, with space for guards (nor many guards fitting over 28mm). 25mm is more the norm/max without going across to a CX frame - there are always exceptions of course.

The actual diameter (measured) of the wheels is 28" anyhow with Maxxis Ardent 2.25" tyres.
Clearances are tight and you wouldn't get anything much bigger on than that.

A 29er tyre won't fit in the rear triangle, or under the fork crown.

Sorry lol

I did say I knew nothing about MTB's! ;)

I could do with a Saddle Bag to save me having to wear my camelback rucksack.

Quite like the look of the 'Cube' and the Large size is approx 16cm x 9cm x 7.5cm. Hopefully this is thin enough not to in the way of my legs and large enough to carry two tubes, multi tool, keys, phone, wallet etc.

Does anyone have any reason to avoid this particular brand/model?

I'm aware that the Topeak range offer good value but as silly as it is I'm just not that keen on the design.

(I have some goodwill credit with this particular store)

I'd always consider Cube a good brand, but obviously more people use the Topeak's. Certainly 1L+ should be enough to get all your items and 2 inner tubes!

I've got the Ortlieb Micro (0.6L) and I wouldn't be able to fit 2 tubes in it with anything else, 1 tube and all tools is my current setup. There is space for my keys if required and other small items but I wouldn't get my wallet in it (I only tend to carry it in my rucksack anyway). I went Ortlieb due to the waterproof and quick release properties than anything else, I will replace it eventually when doing longer distances or if I run out of room in my jersey pockets! :D:p:rolleyes:

My Lezyne from the Pro Cyclying subscription arrived today at last! Wiggle have the handle bar clamp and mounting strap in stock as well if you still need them as I think the torch only comes with the head mount (wife txt to say a torch arrived/what have you been ordering now)

Wrist is mostly better after my off so hopefully be getting back in the saddle tomorrow or the weekend, need to get to work on my 2015 goals!

Hopefully mine arrives today then!

If it's the same retail pack (that I bought on Amazon) it comes with a 'vented helmet mount' - I had ordered one from Wiggle (when it was on special!) that I didn't require so returned it. :D

Can you turn the flashing red light at the back off?

Otherwise it would annoy the hell out of me on mounted on the bars. I use mine on my helmet.

I assumed you can turn it off, if not that's what gaffer tape was invented for right?!

I've not tried it on mine (as I've helmet mounted it) but the Leyzne site mentions the different modes for each light and lists a 0 lumen option for the rear. You cycle the rear light differently to the front so it should be selectable.

My Carrera TDF can fit 28mm knobbly tyres and mudguards. The downside is it's a Carrera TDF and weighs about 4 tonnes.

So these arrived today however they were priced at £54 until recently so really was a bargain :)

Safe to say on the sizing definitely go 1 size up. I was a Small by the guide and went for a medium, definitely snug but a very good fit. A large would have probably alright too but a bit roomier.

Feel a different league from the Altura pair I picked up from Halfords :p

so glad I ordered mine on Sunday

paid £70 for the body paint 2.0 , now they are £122

It took me a while to get used to bib shorts. I wouldn't be without them now! Even the mrs has stopped laughing at the sight of me in them.

Oh god....I keep my bike in my office next to my desk instead of leaving outside which means I have to stagger through my office in all my gear. The first time I did this I almost got laughed out of the building. Years have gone by now and nobody mocks anymore, but, it took months to get to that stage! haha!
