Shorter jaunt today but nice to be out with a buddy and not just plodding solo. Pushed me a fair bit harder than I would normally go but just about held his wheel despite being bunged up with headcold.

@lordrobs - re joining a club. Go for it the worst that can happen is you meet a few more people that may want to ride even if its not on the Club runs. When I started I went along with the local club. Very sociable but not very serious. It schooled me in group riding and also the importance of maintaining your equipment! I don't bother with the club runs now but a group of us generally make a slightly faster route and meet up at the cafe with the rest of them. Even riding with one other person who is fitter than you will make you better.

Chin up mate, I'm fairly sure you'll not be as bad as you fear! Aslong as you're not proper 'slobbing it' and eating chips for every tea you'll soon regain your fitness (if you lose much at all) :)

Edit: Local sportive announced for 12th April, 56 miles. Bit too soon and too long a 'Full-Pint' distance for me (I think), no announcement of a 'Half-Pint' ride, but a free beer (allegedly) when you finish as it's sponsored by a popular local brewery! Maybe next year... :)

Yeah. I've had a bad few days in terms of eating ridiculous amounts but on Monday I'm going to be stricter. I guess I just felt like I may as well load up on bad/enjoyable food for a couple of days since I got back home :)

I'm sure you'd be able to do the full 56 mile route tbh. Especially with a big group, closed roads and support in the form of food/drink.

Short run today. Outside for once!

One thing I noticed though the 15 mph winds at the top of a hill are a lot stronger than anything I've had to contend with in my front room when I'm on the turbo! :p

Had to cut things short today as my legs / top of my head were frozen. Need to invest in some leggings and a skull cap to keep those parts warm!

Aye he's strong as anything but with no bunch riding skills at all. Will be a chore today to even wheel about, I'm best juts making a wee cosy point behind his wheel, get the cigars out and chill out all day.

Been telling him to at least come out on the bunch training rides or do the 9.30 douglas.

Bunch skills you pick up pretty fast, but he's definitely got the talent to do something in the WOSCA series if that's what he wants to aim for. Fair play though he if he's happy enough just doing his own thing, nowt wrong with that either. Enjoy it today anyway, sounds like it might be a bit painful though!

I tried to go out for any easy one earlier, but headwind was killer on the way out and i just haven't eaten enough this week after the wisdom teeth removal earlier. Faded quite badly in the last 20 miles or so.

Lovely day for it though - first time in ages i've come home and me and the bike are not covered in crap!

Nice ride considering the wind.

Im sat on a train at Milngavie haha. Let ross go away on the crow and he was keeping it going to Killearn. I was ruined along that road and finally met him to join the a81. Doesn't really help him riding on the white line and going for it I to headwind. No shelter for me :( told him to go on at Strathblane as he was just in better nick than me.

Exactly my thoughts! So much so that the "summer bike" went out! :)

Ha - i wouldn't go quite that far! I'll save that for the clocks changing.

Ooft, sounds sore. Good effort though. That wind was horrible today and coming from the total opposite direction to normal. No fun being hung out on your own in that.

I don't even have my bike with me this weekend... got too smashed on friday to get home!

no garmin either, jeez not even my clothes ha! :| and I'm off on training next week, plan is to go back to the office and pick it up after work.

This weekend ride, my usual route done in reverse.

Goodwood Hill was fairly harsh but got through it.

I'm pretty happy to do a 20miler each weekend whilst dieting.

Last ride before my trip to OZ, bringing my Garmin with me as my Dad has a road bike.

Should get some miles in, 35 degrees though :o

Plan for today was to get up at 7.30 and get out on the club run.

What actually happened was absolutely awful nights sleep, woke up numerous time, eventually turned my alarm off about 3, and got up at about 9.30. Had a few things to do, so went and got them done, thinking I'll do a turbo session when I get back, but as the weather was so nice, decided to head out on the road bike at about 11.45. Didn't want to go too far as didn't have much for breakfast, so smashed out some miles, doing some intervals of varying lengths.

Felt pretty good all the way round tbh, first ride of any real substance since I got back from Majorca, wish I had swapped my pedals over to see my power outputs. Absolutely exhausted now though, had a big dinner, but still hungry! :D Will have to try to avoid snacking and have another meal later today.

On another topic, I would like to get some compressions trousers, has anyone got any recommendations? Don't want to spend the earth though!

Ouch! At least you put a good effort in & shame you couldn't draft him! :(

I saw your random 2 miler's and thought it strange you were out late and doing short miles! Hope the hangover was worth it!

Nice ride, enjoy Oz! Hear theres lots of good cycling there and the roads are fantastic? Not quite sure that kinda heat would agree with me though... Know a guy out there who works on an opencast mine and he posted up a picture of it being 44 degrees?! :o

Good ride considering the lack of good rest and lack of food - good incentive for the hills and tactically lighter too? ;)

Cruds already dying so I've ordered some Raceblade Longs. Hopefully they'll be as good as people say....

I ordered some from Tredz last monday, still no sign of them... Luckily they were a good price and I'm in no hurry for them (still putting up with my Giant guards for a while I think) :)

Browsing some routes on Strava I'm struggling to find one that won't kill me :p

Got the use of a MTB too and a 50km disused railway trail track so I'll give that a go as well :)

Haha! Those are just rides to gym, tracked through my phone ;D I normally track both to and from gym on my Garmin so it works out as a 4miler rather than 2 ;D

Wasn't too bad.. Pub and then date with a hot blonde, couldn't complain really! Haha

Hope everyone's having a good weekend. Done lot's on the bike and my legs are burning :D
Did 25miles yesterday, took a few nice climbs. One being Old Winchester Hill, which I tackled for the first time last week. This time I decided to take another route up, I wish I had checked it out beforehand, as it pretty sharp and steep! Lovely views from the top, although it rained heavily once I reached the top.

Today I did another 30miles, with my friend Kev. More climbing than yesterday, and we spurred each other on as we hit some pretty meaty descents. Beautiful day today, first time this year I was able to just wear a long sleeved jersey. Legs were absolutely screaming by the time we hit home, but at 28 miles on the Garmin, I forced another lap round the village to make the 30.

Took the Virb out today, so edited a 7min clip of some of the highlights. The last few minutes shows me and Kev racing to the bottom of Portsdown Hill :D

I could feel it coming! As I said my last ride was the 4th of January.

Only time I've been over the crow road is in the car so it was interesting to say the least. Will hit it up in a few months when I have some fitness back :)
