:D I can use Ship2Me, which is a UK based warehouse which then forwards things on, so I'd pay the standard Ribble delivery charge + £35 Ship2Me charge. It means I have to pay VAT on the item and then claim it back through HMRC.

They are doing a sale on some stuff. The price means that there is no import duty to pay. Got a Manx missile t-shirt on the way. Might get the 'Shut up legs' if they arrive and are decent quality.

The two shirts they did that I wanted are no longer available; the 'Welcome to Hoogerland' and the 'Wouter Weylandt' ones :(

I have bought from Ribble during the last year I've been into road cycling. Have spent at least £4K with them. Never had a problem. I don't expect the delivery to be fast and I'm never disappointed ;)

Amazing prices as well. For sure not the cheapest for everything, but I always buy my Assos & Castelli there. Cheapest for Continental by a country mile as well.

And while I am posting, I just wanted to say that I still haven't been able to find any genuine 2009/2010 Cervelo Test team jerseys or bibs. FFS! :(

Have looked at all the usual places, at least 2 or 3 times a week. really can't believe no-one has any to sell. Any ideas?

I'd like a 2009/2010 HTC-Highroad jersey as well. I've got the bib shorts that I bought at the TdF and would like a matching jersey but can't find any UK sellers.

* And matches the colour way of my 2011 Cervelo RS perfectly :)

Rule #15 - '... Don’t over-match your kit, or accept that you will look like a douche'.

Looks like a nice view out of your back garden Fuzz.
Aye, my cretinous family decided to put the polly tunnel there a few years ago and the place has gone down hill ever since. Can't stand the place any more despite being in the country, you can't see any of it. I told them when they were thinking of erecting it it should be put end on, following the farm driveway to the right of the shot but they were insistent that it should be that way round (side facing west, for the sunlight/heat I guess) So I have to look at it instead now.

2nd hand can be good - depends what's on it. Ultegra is all you need TBH. What Mavic wheels are they?

Fondriest Italian road frame,
carbon forks & seat stays.
Full ultegra group set (triple) with 12-27 cassette,
Omega bars & stem,
Carbon seat post & bottle cages.
Mavic ksyrium SL wheel set.
Ultremo ZX tyres

Worth £800??

I just sent Ribble the below e-mail, I hope they can sort out some better shipping arrangement for me,

Hey Ribble,

I'd like to purchase a bike from yourselves, in particular the Gran Fondo. I've specced up to just over £1500inc VAT with the parts I want.

The thing is I live in Guernsey, Channel Islands and as such don't pay VAT, when selecting this option from your website the VAT comes off as expected, what I didn't expect though was the shipping cost of £159.95! Especially when you can get them shipped all over Europe for £50 and to the USA and Australia for £100.

Is this price correct? If so please can you advise which service you use?

As an alternative is there a way for me to place my order via the phone and pay the VAT free price and have it delivered to Ship2Me, a UK based company with a central warehouse who specialise in sending things from mainland UK to the Channel Islands? Then I would just have to pay your standard £20 delivery charge to the UK, plus the £35 Ship2Me charge. Their website is here www.ship2me.co.uk

Thanks for your help,
Jonny

Serves her right. Did you come out of it ok?

My friend is still suffering with his elbow 3 months after he hit someone who stepped out at a crossing without looking. Really he should have got his details and be charging the idiot for physio sessions.

Speaking of which, I cancelled my bike insurance with E&L last week. Who is everyone here with?

CTC, comes with joining the club.

Failing that, any friends or relatives in the mainland that can take delivery and get it shipped over for you?

Well I can use Ship2Me regardless and save £100 on shipping, it's just a case of whether Ribble are happy for me to pay the VAT free price and have it shipped to them or if they want me to pay the VAT inclusive price and claim it back through HMRC.

If not I'm sure I can sort something out through my aunty, she lived in London for 25 years and only just recently moved back, she'll have friends she can trust to help.

Ah sorry, it didn't click! I suppose it would have to be a duty claim if sent to a UK address. Hope Ribble can sort something out for you :)

Few questions :

when you go out cycling, do you push yourselves all the time or just ride at 'normal' pace ? I commute to work around 4,1miles(only I know) at takes me around 17minutes and average speed is 14miles per hour. It would be easily 15 or less if there would not be 5 roundabouts and few lights on my way...I always try to push it to the max.
Today I was cycling with my GF so she can get used to cycling on the roads and were cycling at 'normal' pace and at the end of it I wasnt tired at all . Looking on that I could do 30-40miles trip..

so do you push yourselves all the time or just ride relaxed ??

and second question :
If you would be looking to sell a bike, where would you sell it ?? ( plan on to selling my old hybrid and getting a ladies bicycle for my GF as my old hybrid is tad to big for her..)

I don't go flat out all the time no, but I'm not training to be anything.

I'll go hard up a few hills or go fast slow then fast on the flats - usually traffic lights see me accelerate as fast as possible and try to hold it for as long as possible.

Bikeradar.com, gumtree and ebay are a good start. Other forums like singletrack world aswell.
