anyone got any recomendations for a cheap set of rechargeable lights ???

dont need anything to fancy just a simple front and back set that i can recharge and will last a couple of hours.

yeah i know you get what you pay for but i aint working and in all honesty the way my leg is i doubt il be doing many longer rides.

Anyone suggest a 500-600 road bike for me? Mainly used for doing a communute to work.

Would prefer it to be from Evans.
The best that Evans offer is probably the specialized allez at £500 (i would choose the compact rather than the triple).

IMO, the best bike you could get in that price range would be a ribble Sportive 7005 at £581 (from ribblecycles.co.uk)

Shorts, new pair of gloves and jersey ordered.

Went for an XL Foska, will see how it is for size when it turns up, was between the L and XL, guess I can always wash it at 60c and hope it shrinks a little if its too big!

Busy weekend for me. I bought some track bars for my Bob Jackson. I was going to splash out on some Nitto ones but at £95 they are a bit steep and I don't need them certified because I don't compete on a track. I actually had a look at some at Tokyo Fixed Gear last week and they are AMAZINGLY light so I know where your money goes. I found some in the same shape but a LOt cheaper online and took a chance on them. Curved tops, BIG drop and they look the business. The bike has got that Snoopy ear look to it and the bottoms of the drops are roughly in line with the top of the wheel when the stem is all the way down. I'll post some pics when I've wrapped them and swapped to a matching seatpost.

I also treated my unicycle to a hand-built wheel :p. The last time I used it (a few years ago now) the inner tube exploded through the tyre wall so it needed a new tyre. I always thought it had an awkward-looking size wheel (24x1-3/8") and I had a spare early aero deep-section 700C rim, so I had a measure up and it fits. I laced it to the hub with some spare stainless db spokes I had in the drawer and it works really well size-wise. I'll take some pics later.

Cheap and cheerful and VERY bright.

Have a good stash of rechargeable AAAs for it though. Pretty sure an 18650 will go in for extra brightnesses.

I managed to find the nash equilibrium of bike lights. The problem I had is that predominantely down Uxbridge Road, cars tend to pull out of junctions / attempt to turn into side roads from opposite sides, and notice me at last minute, despite having a decent Catlight LED light (EL530 I think).

So on the front I now I have an EL530, an Exposure strobe light and 2 frog leds on the fork. On the rear I have 2 frogs on my helmet, and on the seatpost an exposure strobe light and a cateye LD1100.

Now I notice a significant drop in cars trying to gun it in front of me! :P

I look comical, but I basically did it because in the past 3 years or so of commuting, I have been knocked off my bike 5 times, all SMIDSYs.

well ended up ordering a Electron Nano 9 and Pico 7 Light Set from evans as the one jonny suggested seemed to be a bit hit and miss with the build quality.

wanted a rechargaeble set but the cheap ones seem rather pointless in the end as far as a main front light.

I recently got a Blackburn Voyager 2.0 and a Smart Lunar R1 Rear light, was about £21~ I think but they're very bright and sturdy when fitted.

Nice to have the good weather back! Hopefully should get out for a few rides this week to get the mileage back up!

Just started using strava and it is quite addictive. The whole slightly competitive nature of the leaderboards really makes me push myself!

Excuse me while my pith boileth over again...

Not me but..
The driving was bad enough but when I read the comments and found the stump monkey has found himself on the video I feel more hands to the pumps are required..
What a moronic attitude the cretin has. :(

What a complete tool. I had a very similar thing happen to me on Friday and just about managed to squeeze through a gap between the idiotic driver turning left and a van on my right.

Chamois cream isn't for the chamois unless you count applying it to your crotch and arse as simply the most effective way of getting it on the chamois.

Just as confirmation, I bought some Udderly smooth chamois cream and it even says on the tub to apply it direct to the chamois pad (or skin)

Not that i'm trying to defend his terrible driving, but i doubt the guy making the comments on youtube is actually the driver.
His first comments refer to the driver in 3rd person:
Stop terrorizing this innocent van driver with your obnoxious bloody horn.
Also, even if the driver did know that the cyclist had a camera and would upload it to youtube, it wouldnt be easy to find, the title of the video is "no comment" and there are no locations in the search tags, just generic: Traffic, Van, Driving, Drive, cycling, Violation (even if you filter by videos uploaded today, there's still at least 2000 results to look through for each keyword)

I suspect it's just a random troll.

That did go through my mind I must admit, along with...
1. the guy was onto the video as soon as it was uploaded
2. The guy was repeatedly commenting on the video (would he not have been busy working?)

18.5km done tonight after work, average of 25.8 kmph. There is a slightly longer route I can do making it about 25km, need a bit more training first.

Slightly creaky from around the head tube area when I have some weight over the front. I might move the spacers and raise the bars slightly anyway as feel a little low.
