Worryingly it also arrived at East Midlands airport 52 minutes later......
You know, sometimes I think that somebody manually overrides the tracking for my packages, and puts in fake details. I imagine they must get a huge kick in making me think my goods have just arrived in Tokyo. Still, I guess that means you'll get it this week, right?

Bought some gloves today. I was thinking fingerless mitts but I went for some Gore Windstoppers. Not entirely sure where the mitts would fit into my cycling life as I have quite padded handlebar tape, so I'll wait until next year for those if I need them.

I have a pair of Sealskinz MTB Winter gloves, cracking bits of kit. On Monday morning at 6.15am I ventured outside the house to begin my commute. Hmmm, chilly - I thought so I nipped back inside and got the Sealskinz, wore those rather than my usual Specialized BG Gel mitts.

Hands were absolutely roasting as in "too hot" by the time I arrived at work 18 miles later. So yeah - still a tad early for the warmer gloves methinks.

I made the mistake of wearing my Altura Airstream Mitts on Monday morning, my fingers were numb before I got to the end of my street. I have a pair of the Sealskinz that Draeger mentioned and also find them far too warm for this time of year. Fortunately I have some long fingered gloves without padding that seem ideal for this time of the year.

As this is my first year commuting by bike, I've been looking at getting some studded tyres of the coming winter, and I can't decide if they're a fantastic idea or utterly moronic. Is it best to give up the cycling when the ice and snow hit?

This year I'm going to be trying studded tyres for the first time. From what I've read they are very good but because they run at such low pressures they are very slow. Like, add 25-50% to your journey time.
I can't wait to see the Cervelo with studded tyres on it ;)

Joking aside, which bike are you going to use them on? I was looking at Schwalbe Marathon Winter tyres for my Subway 8, but they're pretty expensive and I have no idea how effective they are.

Just delivered today (the picture is from a review site, not mine). Those are 32mm tyres and apparently there is clearance for 42mm. I've ordred 700x35 MWs.

I've got some 37mm Marathon+ at home (on my station hack) so I'm going to try those this weekend to makesure the clearance is ok. If not then it's plan B: take the train some days :(

When I hit bumps in the road, my chain will hit the top of the derailleur (circled in picture below):

I remember this happening after a few weeks of cycling when I first bought the bike and it was remedied as part of the free service I got from the LBS. It is only very mild at the moment but it will get worse like it did last time.

I#m confident the noise is caused by the chain hitting the top of the derailleur because I can reproduce the sound when I drop the back wheel of the bike by a couple of inches. I can clearly see the chain hitting it.

I'm not too sure what I need to adjust, as gears to me seem pretty sensitive to any adjustment.

Much appreciated if someone could help me! I hate having any noise from my bike, and I know the sound is only going to get worse as it has done before.
