Guys, anyway to keep mostly dry when its tipping it down? I can keep my upper body dry with the use of a waterproof, but the lower, I can keep my bum dry with the use of a rear mudguard, but the front mudguard, despite some diy to it to lower it, still soaks my feet and shins :(

Other than waterproof overtrousers and waterproof shoes, nope.

I use neoprene overshoes sometimes, but when it's very wet they get penetrated. I've also got waterproof boots, but when it's bucketing down water gets in though the ankle hole (generally jsut running down my leg).

I wear waterproof socks if there's a risk of heavy rain, and I carry my waterproof trousers with me at all times just in case. I don't wear shoes in the office though, so I don't care about my shoes getting soaked as long as my feet stay dry - overshoes may be required if you need to keep your shoes dry.

I did indeed, platypus, on the day you said they'd arrive, so thank you for that. Still have yet to get around to fitting them though. With rain forecast for the weekend, I may well do it this evening.

Ah, sorry. I have been getting so much stuff for my bikes that I forgot that I got them from you, and not some faceless online store.

Speaking of which, the rack and panniers for my commuter arrived today, so I shall have the joy of installing them this evening. I also got some white bottle cages to match the Pompetamine's paint, rather than using the silver ones that I already have and ruining the looks. Hopefully the saddle will arrive soon, so I can finally get some pictures up :)

For anybody who's interested, installing a TorTec Ultralite rack on a bike with the proper mounting holes is refreshingly easy. I wish I could say the same for the Basil Mara panniers; the buckles are fine, but the velcro that holds the bag to the side of the rack is incredibly fiddly and doesn't feel especially secure. Cable ties would seem to be the better solution, although it would make the bag more difficult to remove (which could be a plus, depending on how you look at it). They seem to work together just fine, and at about half the price of the equivalent capacity Topeak rack and bag, though probably not as convenient. Oh, and the bike looks even worse now, which is a bonus :)

**** me it was cold this morning. Have been prepared to give October the benefit of the doubt, but it is definitely winter now!
I'm still wearing shorts on my commute in, although I'm only on the bike for 20 minutes at most. My hands were freezing up though, which is the only thing that's bothering me about the weather. How cold does it have to get before you can call it quits?

Also, [DOD]Asprilla, what's happening with the Civia now?

How do you keep your hands warm, though? I doubt cycling with them in your tights is safe (or legal ;)).

LMAO!!!. A page or so back I posted that the other day I wore my Sealskinz MTB Winter gloves for a commute and they were too warm. However, yesterday morning I had them on and they were just right. I guess it's defo getting colder now in the mornings.

Quit? If I get cold I just pedal harder. ;) At the moment I'm overdressing in socks, sealskinz socks, roubaix tights, l/s base, l/s jersey, mitts, cap and jacket. TBH I've been sweating like a pig but it's been kept between the base and the jersey so I'm not uncomfortable.

When it gets a colder I'll change my shoes for boots, add shorts over the tights, change the jersey for a double layer or roubaix one, add a buff, change the cap for a windstopper skullcap and change the mitts for long finger windstopper gloves with glove liners

Almost ready, but I'm waiting on a replacement barrel adjuster. It's been delivered to Mrs A's office, but unfortunately she's working out of a different office this week. :(

I might start using it in the middle of next week.

Still struggling to get the brakes properly aligned as well.
