The Specialized Allez is the most popular bike in that range but it's worth looking at the Boardman's at the moment too as they're currently in the sale and there's various 10% voucher codes floating about as well.

The Boardman Comp looks pretty good value in the sale! Going to try and get a test ride on an Allez at the weekend.

Anything else I should be considering folks?

My fulcrum 7 front wheel hub is starting to cake up as it takes a fair bit of riding until it gets smooth again. Any special tool I require to disassemble the hub? or should I just buy a new one lol. Rear wheel has been changed to RS20 but I knew it should've bought the wheels set damn it.

So they do :S I thought they only used the 'Fulcrum' brand for shimano compatible stuff.

I think you'd be better with some deeper rims though, rather than those super light ones, depending on what type of riding your doing. Light wheels are great, but they make the biggest difference when climbing. A deeper, more aerodynamic rim might take longer to accellerate up to speed, but it will be much easier to maintain a good speed with them.

Cheers for that, so for relatively flat stuff would you be able to spec me a wheelset for similar sort of money as the neutrons, I would really appreciate it. I assume a £500+ deepish wheelset will be lighter than the current Mavic Aksiums anyway!

PlanetX carbon clinchers look good. I'v not tried the clinchers with the alu braking surfaces but i have carbon PX wheels on my TT bike and they do their job well.
(I think the clinchers with the alu braking surfaces would be better for everyday use than the full carbon tubulars)

Yup, the Boardman's are excellent value even without the sale and 10% off. This - http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/..._productId_789247_langId_-1_categoryId_165710 - for £526 + 4% cashback is a bargain.

I'm strongly considering the Boardman Road Race when I pick up a bike on Cycle2Work in the autumn. If I can stretch to the Comp (i.e. if there's any great end of season deals) I'll go for that, but to be honest - and girly - I think I prefer the Race for the colour!

Cheers for that, the specs on those look good, especially for the price (£420 with the vat off!) I'm not a fan of the look of them, although that could be overlooked given the price.

Box Hill

Guys next week ive got to take a day off work and was thinking of heading to Box Hill with a friend to check it out, neither of us have been before and i was wondering are the cycle routes marked out and easy to find? i dont fancy spending half a day driving round trying to find where we're supposed to go :)

Cosmic Carbone SLs :D

This is a good shout (but slightly more expensive than PX ones).
I got cosmic carbones with my canyon and they are great wheels. I only use them for racing and usually use fulcrum 7s on the canyon and they really do make a massive difference.
Bikediscount.de have them on offer at 749 EUR just now. probably work out around £600 with exchange rate + postage (dont know if/how you would get the tax off them though?)

I'd say anyone who is thinking of Allez should try the sectur too.

I would imagine they have an outlet still, same as Merlin, big warehouse but have a shop counter.

Good chippy next to their old shop....:o

Depending on weather hoping to cycle up from Bristol. Still need to plan a route though.

If I were to swap from my Felt micro shifters to 105 shifters (purely for the aesthetics of internal cables) what would be involved? Presumably it would be prudent to get new gear and brake cables? What about setting up the shifting, is that relatively straight forward?

AFAIK, shimano shifters are compatible with microshift derailleurs, but best to check first with somebody who knows for sure.

Setting up the gears is not too difficult. There are a lot of good guides on the net on how to do it. It can take quite a bit of time to get them perfect though.
You'll also need to retape your bars over the internally routed cables, which isnt difficult either.

What clean food and drink can I eat whilst at the coffee shop on my weekend ride? I usually have a cappucino and sometimes a slice of cake but I'm cycling to lose bodyfat so these are counter productive.

I'm aware I need carbs for energy but want to give myself the best chance. I've started eating Soreen whilst out which I absolutely love. Can anyone suggest alternatives such as green tea instead of a cappucino.
