Completely different to one another. Rollers give a really good low intensity workout and really improve your bike handling skills, but they're not going to help you get over hills. Turbos will do nothing for your bike handling but will do more for your fitness.
 
I have the cycleops aluminium rollers, I find them to be pretty quiet though I don't have a turbo to compare them to.

You can do a lot of different structured training sessions on rollers as you would a turbo but it has the advantage of working your bike handling skills too, helps keep away boredom as there is actually a lot more to be involved with.

I would certainly recommend.

Jumble sale was in Radcliffe and wasn't worth going to really. Lots of old parts and things but none of it was very keenly priced, overshoes more expensive than new ones for example. Came away empty handed.
 
Ok unfortunately the missus has prevailed.

I can't have a loft conversion (eg den installation) and a new bike she says, so I'm after some ultra narrow/low clearance mud guards for my Ribble (700x23c).

Damn you Parcelfarce.

Last tracking of my frame is it being collected from a post office in Southampton on Saturday morning. Given they are a 24/365 logistics company I very much doubt that was the last action it went through.

This means my frame will be delivered tomorrow, not today. This is a issue because tomorrow I'm going out drinking with a mate who has just moved back to the UK and as a result I'm going to have to ask for forgiveness from Mrs A whilst drunk.
