New Year... New Bike. That's how it works right? :p

I've sold my Canyon Roadlite AL w/ Campag Wheelset and going to resurrect the Trek 1.1 from graveyard for the interim. Pretty sure it just needs a new 8 speed cassette/chain to sort the gears out.

Going to make the most of this lovely looking weather by giving the bikes a good clean.

Well that was a disappointing start to 2013... 9 miles in, just arrived into Richmond Park and Rose had her first ever puncture.:(

Decided to head home after that as I'm not sure I trust my patch job done hastily with cold hands. Do you guys continue to run on a patched tube or do you always buy a new one?

On the plus side, my Lezyne Road Drive got its first field test. I can highly recommend it to anybody looking for a hand pump. It barely took much effort to get the tyre back up to a ridable pressure.

Ah I suppose that's one way, unfortunately I don't have any spare tubes yet as I need ones with long valves. It was a rear puncture so I just repaired it without removing the rear wheel which seemed easier/quicker.

Would you re-use the repaired tube?

I always take a spare tube with me then patch the punctured tube when i get home.

This is the way to deal with punctures. Trying to patch a tube by the side of the road is too much of a hassle, especially when it's cold. Repair them when you get home, where you can do it in comfort.

Or, if you're like [DOD]Asprilla & George Hincanpie, throw the damaged tube into the bushes and order some new ones when you get home ;)

Didnt take any pics :(

I always carry a spare tube. Sod repairing a puncture at the roadside.

And I've also learnt my lesson about with my Boardman about carrying a spare tube with a long enough valve stem!!!! Last puncture I had I only had a 40mm stem, which don't fit on cosmics.

Got out this morning, only managed 26 miles after 3 weeks off. I didn't have any gels or nutrition bars either and I really struggled to keep my average speed up, just under 15mph, normally around 17mph. Will be giving that circuit another go soon with a bit more preparation!

Anyone else been out today?

:(

My garmin 800 through a wobbley today

went out and it seemed to be working fine (all sensors) and half way up a hill it kept saying turning off in.. secs so i press stay on, and my speed etc is still ok, and it kept doing it, anyway, i am now home plugged it into the computer and its only done 0.1 mile and the map is toally wrong! :(

My cosmics came with their own little valve extenders. You use them to pump up the tube then take them off so that the whole of the valve is completely inside the fairing.

Most of the time i reuse patched tubes. Sometimes if there is a big rip in the tube or it's punctured around the valve stem or somewhere difficult to patch then i'll chuck them out. A properly patched tube is just as strong as a new tube.
