Check you can fit that under your derailleur. With a short cage SRAM Force rear mech I can only go up to 27. I'd need a long cage Apex mech to get from 28 to 32.

I've got apex on my dolan but the winter ribble is gonna be campag veloce (medium arm) for the larger cassette i think. id stick with apex but id like to give campag a go seeing as i gave sram a go and liked. i can change when it wears out. plus its cheaper

It doesn't need to be Apex: http://www.sram.com/sram/road/technologies/wifli_tm

Available for all SRAM GS. Nice if you want to make a pure climbing bike.

Compagnolo has a nicer font.

SRAM have more comfortable hoods and reach adjustment is standard across the range (I notice you said you have small hands, so do I).

Also the indexing / adjustment is a lot easier (simply because the barrel adjusters are indexed) and the brakes are better than Shimano at every level. Campag brakes are cheese.

Endomondo and Strava apps do indeed both work at the same time on an iPhone 4 with no issues at all. Went out for a quick training loop early this morning and both apps recorded the ride. First time I've used Strava, apparently I'm 8th fastest out of 35 who have ridden a fairly popular part ( 2.4km ) route on my training loop. I can see Strava getting rather addictive!!!. I take it lots of folk here use it?.

They're really not. Even Veloce stops my 19st just fine on the road. I picked Campag stuff for my road bike as it looks better than Shimano and the hoods suit my hands better. I was tempted by sram stuff as I use it on all my mountain bikes but Campag stuff just seems right on a road bike.

I find it a great encouragement to go for a ride just to get the miles in. I lent my road bike to a mate to try out for a week and already miss it as I had to ride today but mtb'ing felt hard work with the crappy soft trails. I'm James Grabowski on Strava if anyone wants to follow me.

Did the coast to coast from Whitehaven to Tynemouth today. 134 miles with 9400 feet of climbing - 8:21 ride time. I'm absolutely wrecked.

Haven't done it before and completely underestimated the task but at least it's over! :D

I did that exact route 2 years ago - it was the ride that got me interested in road cycling again. At the time we did it over 3 days on mountain bikes, carrying our stuff. Some of the climbs were just silly. Or rather the number of climbs so close together was just silly.

I'd love to do it again now I'm lighter, fitter, faster and stronger ;)

Massive 'Well done!' from me.

8000 calories

Coast to coast in on my list for a few years down the line. I've got a fair few fancy rides in mind for the future, come to think of it.

Daft question - Just started using Strava today. Where in your profile do you find the link you should use when posting on a forum?. I've shared it on FB but not sure where to look for a forum link?. I see an iframe Blog type deal there?.

I just post the link from the address bar... It'll be app.strava.com/rides/BIGNUMBER

Not sure what you do if you want to actually embed an image from the page.
