It's something you'll get used to I believe, I don't think it's from bike positioning.

Raising the bars or getting a shorter stem will put you in a more upright position, but could alter handling in an undesireable way.

Ah ok thanks, my position overall felt good and like I had good control over the bike so I'll stick with it for a while and see how I get on, thanks!

I did have pain at the base of the back of my neck and am unsure of how to sort this and wether its a riding position issue or something I'll find goes as I cycle more?

I used to have this. Moved my seat slightly lower and forward.
Tight tendons and muscles / poor flexibility.

I was cycling with Beeston RC so if you saw a big group of us I would have been in it.

I've just signed up to Beeston RC, was you out on the social ride on Wednesday starting from The Vic pub? If so, I was the one that missed you all at the start and got lost trying to catch up!

Just chewing the fat about another bike (n+1).

At the moment I have a Giant Defy 0 as my main bike for dry riding.
I've got a Boardman TeamR Urban bike for commuting and general popping to the shops or out with non cycling mates / family.

In the garage I've got an old Fondriest bike with Ultegra 6700 groupset that the frame is too small for me that I'm thinking of selling as a whole or chopping up and putting bits on another bike.

I'd quite like an audax / touring bike, probably steel framed (I think titanium would be too expensive) with pannier rack and sticking the wheels and Ultegra groupset from the Fondriest on it. It could be a little project and help me learn more about bike building and maintenance.

Either that or get a Ribble Audax I've priced up at £810 on the cycle to work scheme that opens in Oct at my workplace?

I guess my question is, how much could I get a decent (lightweight?) steel and/or titanium frame for? I'd essentially have all the other bits I need to build from the donor bike. Any pitfalls? Or am I just another victim of n+1 and there is no real need for another bike..

Burls Ti frame custom is £1k and then you'll need a fork and probably a seat post for £100 and £30 respectively. You'll probably need to factor in a fitting somewhere so you can give Justin the details he needs.

For steel a reall top end frame from Bob Jackson is likely to be about £800 but you can have a custom one for about three quarters of that depending on what you want.

The Equilibrium doesn't have rack eyelets, so you'd need to use p-clips if you're going to attach a rack; not ideal if you really do want a bike for fully loaded touring. Of course, if you just want to carry a change of clothes then I'm sure it'd be fine. It might be worth having a look at something like the Jamis Quest. Somewhat more relaxed geometry than the Equilibrium with rack eyelets and the same 105 groupset, for around the same price. It turns out that you don't seem to be able to buy just the frame/fork, so the advice I just gave is pointless... but as I've typed it out I am going to post it anyway :P

On the plus side, I got an email from Evans this evening to tell me that my bike has been shipped; hopefully that means I'll get it within the next couple of days. I'll have to get a move on with selling off the other bikes soon.

Wasnt out on Wednesday as I was away with work. I joined them for the steady ride out on Sunday though (which I think you've seen on Strava if I'm not getting mixed up)

Thinking about doing the Beeston CC 10m TT tonight as its the end of season one and would like to get a time down as a reference.

Right then, a question of balls. The other night when I was out the wind was howling through my shorts and things were getting pretty chilly down there. I can only imagine that this will become more of a problem as we move into autumn and winter. Is this where undershorts come in?
