If riding in the drops feels wierd as in uncomfortable your bikes set up wrong

They're just weird as in unfamiliar. After 20+ years of riding MTBs there's a bit of getting used to required. Nearly all of my cycling at the moment is in rush hour traffic so being more upright gives me more visibility anyway. I reckon after giving the drops a try on a few quiet leisure rides I'll get the feel of it.

Haha, I should talk to you guys more often. I made an effort to ride in the drops as much as possible on the way home today and ended up getting a KOM on strava!

Cheers!

I noticed it was a bit easier to breathe in the drops for some reason. Probably because I tried to make sure I was rotating my pelvis, rather than bending my back. Loosening the straps on my bag so it sits further down my back helped too.

I find I get a runny nose if I'm on the drops too long, annoying!

Had a good 15.5m ride home. I remember why I enjoy biking again!

edit - Mint! Got 2/30 and 6/69 on a couple of segments, woohoo!

going to post this in here instead of my own thread..

i am gutted

just had a call from a local (ish) cycle shop and they have talked to Focus and they are not going to start building the Izalco Pro 3.0 untill the new year, he said the earliest i will get one is March !

not happy !

so been looking at "alternatives" and would like some recomendations

every time I see a bike, its out of stock on my size! :(

i can get a Cube GTC Race (2012) from Tredz for £1600 which has Ultrega and 105 groupset and it looks really nice !!

other than that, maybe a Cannondale Supersix or Felt F5 or even a specialized Tarmac Elite ? (all 2012 models and in my size!)

This weekend should be good one in terms of cycling.

Having a ride with some people from work tomorrow lunch to begin with. Should be more leisurely than I'm used to.

Then planning on doing the the Brian Rourke ride on Sunday. Not going to do the exact route since the Leek -> Buxton road is abysmal to drive on, let alone cycle. So going to extend it a little and head through Longnor and then up to the Mermaid pub and into Leek that way, avoiding the A53.

If nobody has them it's because saddleback don't have any to sell. I'm sure the big shops will have some stock though.

Sorry forgot to say, Saddleback supply the shops with the Felt bikes so if they don't have them the shops can't order one. Shops should have stock since there has been a batch of 2013 bikes through already.

I prefer the colour of the 2013 F5 persoanlly :p

Just heard on the radio that the "Wiggo effect" related to about a 15% increase in sales of bikes at Halfords.

I certainly didn't see a 15% increase in my store. All I got was people remembering they own a bike that's been sitting outside/in a shed for 5 years and brought it in for me to fix. Joy.

Having said that, it cant be argued that we (as a company) have had a fantastic summer, I wouldn't necessarily put it all down to Bradley and his efforts, but cycling in general is booming, as we all know.

Aye we had an unusually busy September and had loads of people saying the usual stuff about the olympics/chris hoy/etc etc but really up here the weather decides when we sell bikes.

I got out for 17 miles this evening. I really need my big light to arrive in the post - I did a few miles on unlit roads which was a bit scary.

I was absolutely dripping when I got home. I could do with a proper hi vis jersey as I was pretty toasty in my hi vis jacket.
