nice prices!

they all have high back though, so not really for Summer useage? as i would wear a jersey over that otherwise id be showing off my chest! lol

Thats what bibshorts are like. They have straps over your shoulders, so naturally have a higher back. They are intended to be worn with a jersey over the top and are not really any warmer than waistband shorts (but are a lot more comfortable)

Picked up a lovely Shutt VR softshell jacket for winter. It's very warm. Went out today to try it on a 30 mile blast but after 6 miles of 6.5c temps I was already sweating. Probably need another lighter jacket until it gets much colder.

Can't believe how cold my feet were though. 2 pairs of Merino socks and toe covers on the shoes and they were still numb after 20 miles :(

Got a 60 mile club run tomorrow, 3 pairs of merino socks?

Aye, they are way more comfortable. I wore my warm bib tights today (Lidl cycle suit :D) and they are so much better than my shorts or my toasty trousers from Aldi by virtue of not having the elasticated waistband digging in.

The only downside is having to bend over like a hunchback to have a wee!

What's going to give me the best bang for buck in keeping my feet warm? Winter (thermal) socks DeFeet Woolie Boolies look good or Neoprene overshoes?

I recently bought some woolie boolies. Great socks, wore them on a ride not long ago at around 2C and they were fine.
But also, did a 62 mile ride today, in relatively mild temps, and my feet weren't too hot either.

Might get some of those woolie boolies. I find my fingers, toes and face get cold but I'm generally warm everywhere else once I get going.

That Gore Oxygen windstopper jacket I bought has been too warm so far. Works great in the rain though.

The pace have been replaced with vaeon (or similar name) and the new ones are meant to be better in the pad area! I have some non padded tights I wear I've my summer bibs and they are perfect in this weather!

got the new vaeon and vaeon roubaix (not tried as still warm) for autumn/winter. i was amazed but the pad is less comfy than my chinese copy team gear

and got my ribble winter delivered this week. didnt have time to set it up for today but it will be in use tomorrow and thank goodness cos the roads are awful

Is your stem angled down? (i cant really tell from the pic) Try flipping it over.
If not, try and find a stem with a big angle that will bring the bars up higher.

Can you move the stem up the steerer tube anymore? It's hard to tell, but it looks like you might have a spacer on top of the stem? Try sticking it underneath.

Could also try an offset/kinked seatpost to bring your saddle further forward.

Flipping the stem and adding a spacer definitely helped, thanks for the tip. Going to shuffle my saddle forward a little next but I may need a different post to move it much further, it's already close to the limit. Hoping that will alleviate the numbness I tend to suffer down there (only on the bike fortunately). :o

Sounds more like a saddle issue than a fit issue if your gooch/balls get sore? Some other saddles can relieve stress on that area making it really comfy.

Since getting back on my bike I've put my saddle up again, adjusted my cleats for it to come loose on the way home last night, found a bulge on the side of my gatorskin that isn't that old and worn my chain beyond worn :(

I used Castelli merino wool socks + altura airstream overshoes last winter and was fine, I'm using the Castelli Dilluvio neopreme ones and they seem warmer I think. If it is really really really wet like it has been up here then you will get wet without a doubt but they keep the cold wind off so you don't feel cold + the socks keep the damp away from your skin helping too.

got my first cyclosportive tommorow:eek:
bit nervous as ive never really ridden in a group before.

Ive signed up for the shorter route which is 43 miles but apparently i can do the longer route (78 miles) as they are both the same at the start and split off at 21 miles. am i silly for even contemplating doing the longer route as the longest ride ive done before is just under 60 miles?

on a side note i used the lights i bought today on my ride home from work. v impressed with the moon xp500

on another side note since starting cycling a couple of months ago and having a healthier diet my weight has dropped from 16st 3lb to 14st 8lb. 5 more pounds and ive reached 2 stones loss. hooray cycling!:D

cycling does absolutely nothing to my weight :D no matter what i do im 11.8st.

Go do 60 miles and **** yourself in so that you can't stand up lol.

I seem to hover around 11st-ish but rose to 12 when I started being lazy. :(

A customer of mine dropped two stone in about 6-8 weeks he said. Started on a kona dew hybrid, wanted a smaller size than I advised, wouldn't put the seat up and used flats.

Everything I've said he has done including seat up, proper size road bike now and SPD SL pedals.

£1200+ he's spent so far and he wants another bike. I'm sure as hell he'll be lighter than me next year if he keeps it up haha.

I've dropped 10lb in 3 months, to get down to 12st. I'd like to get down to more like 11st if I can.

minty - have you got profiles of the routes? Or just the amounts of climbing? 78 miles of hills could be brutal!

funny, ive lost a bit since cycling this year, well at least i think i have, was 11 stone, now 10,8, but i have a very high motabalisem so what i eat doesent going into fat anyway, i can eat cake all day long if i want to!

I'm only browsing on my phone so can't tell - which way round does it go? Is it over Anglezarke or Belmont first? I know a fair bit of the short route, as I imagine you do, and if it's Anglezarke first then it'll be easier because Belmont is hard work. The short route takes in a lot of our standard Saturday routes. For the sake of a sportive I'd be tempted to go for the long route. I hear Polocini are good for providing decent food which you'll probably need.

Are you going with friends or will you be doing it on your own?

From what i can gather it goes over Anglezarke first and back through Belmont towards Rivington on the way back. I have had experience going towards Belmont from Rivington and it is definitely harder than coming towards Rivington from Belmont. (for me anyway :))

I will have to see how i feel at the marker where the route splits off to do the longer route. I just don't want to complete the short route then feel like i could have done the long one.

I'm going on my own but im sure everyone will be friendly enough. Ive got a couple of mates who cycle in Bolton but they tend to cycle with Lancashire road cycling club and they have quite a fast average speed on their runs so i don't really cycle with them much at all as i wont be able to keep up. and my other mates who cycle unfortunately don't live in Bolton so most if not all my rides are on my own.

ive decided to ask you guys, if anyone lives near me, that we could do some rides together, especially on Sundays, or to train with and the like.

i live in Chinnor, oxfordshire, but i dont know ofxordshire at all as i used to live in Bucks, and i have Bucks on my doorstep in every direction (High wycombe, aylesbury, Milton Kynes) and even reading (Berkshire)
