As my bikeradar sig says:

Claud Butler Legend for the station
Civia Bryant for the shops
Scott CR1 for speeding
Burls Custom Ti for commuting
Cannondale Caad CX9 for when I want to be called Mary

I still want a 29er.

And a Brompton. An S-type Ti with a 2 speed derailleur.

And an Airnimal Chameleon Ultima.

And a P3C......

lol, theres nothing wrong with the Ultegra groupset on the Canyon. I've just grown to prefer SRAM it wouldn't be worth the expense to swap it out. But I see what you did there ;)

I swapped out Ultegra for Red on mine, cost me about £300 extra in the end but I did buy a few second hand bits. I love SRAM, Shimano takes too much effort for my puny hands to shift up with the brake lever :p

Fairly sedentary 50 miles this morning and home for lunch :)

Ride Summary: minding my own business, pondering the meaning of life and how my performance has dropped off a cliff since it's got a bit colder. Cue near miss with car followed by one of my fastest 10 mile laps this year. Conclusion; Adrenalin is a hell of a drug :p

will have to take a ride to evans today :) my brake pads are dead now, we'll see what they have in store! :) need my bike ready for work on monday so can't order online.

Today's ride http://connect.garmin.com/activity/250133595

Went up Box Hill (zig-zag road) instead of down this time. Climbing is fun! Getting in and out of central London really kills the average speed though.

Thoughts on the new clothing for people interested:

Gore Xenon 2.0 Windstopper gloves (£37.50 on sale at Wiggle with 25% off) - impressed with them considering how thin they are, but finger tips were a little cold at times. Temp was 4.5C average according to Garmin so I think they did well. However, I think they are more suited for autumn and spring than winter. Quality is top notch as you'd expect from Gore and since they are really thin you maintain good dexterity. Also they don't have those crappy liners that get pulled out when you remove your fingers. I'm so impressed with Gore kit I may get the "Thermo" version of this glove which is designed for winter.

dhb Pace Roubaix 3/4 bib tights (£28.80 at wiggle, 40% off currently) - a bit disappointed considering all the rave reviews it has. Fit is great with an XS, but the disappointing bit is the pad. Halfway into the ride it began to really scratch away at my nethers! Do they soften up after a wash? If not I'm not sure I can take riding with them beyond 20mi. So far, I still believe that expensive cycling shorts/tights are totally worth the extra cost until I find a "budget" pair that proves me wrong. Time to start saving for some Gore/Castelli/Assos I think.

I have the Pace ones (the Vaeon are the new version but not sure if pad has changed?)

I agree the pad is quite thin, but I've never found it scratchy maybe it does need a wash :)

A little bit of cream goes a long way to making bibs more comfortable on long rides imo

The actual cushioning of the dhb pad was fine. It wasn't pressure that was causing discomfort, but the chafing/rubbing effect of the pad material. I will see how I get on after they've been washed a few times. I've also ordered some "Udderly" chamois cream to see if that helps.

Afraid in my experience you need to spend more on your shorts, because the chamois really do make a difference.

Castelli, Rapha, Nalini etc are like cycling on a bed of cushioning and air.

Assos are like cycling on a bed of naked virgins massaging your testicles whilst giving you a reach around, but us mere mortals can't really afford lots of pairs of Assos bib shorts (or at least justify the expense!).
