Has anybody got anything like this that they'd be able to share their opinion of?

I have a schwinn spinning bike like this.
Got it on ebay for about £80 i think. I also have a turbo and rollers but the spinning bike is my fav by far.
It's a big, solid chunk of metal. I can stand up and do a maximum effort sprint and it wont move an inch. I hate the 'floppy' feel of the turbo (which may just be down to my cheapo turbo).
It does mean, however, that it's very difficult to move out of the way when not in use (i just leave mine in the middle of the room all the time)

Do any of you guys know a good way to find some decent long hills near me? I want to do some specific hill training, as the bike course at IMUK as one rather steep long hill which has to be climbed 3 times. So I want to make sure I can handle it. I only know of a couple of 300-400ft climbs near me that only last for a couple of miles. The profile is this.

Part of me still wants to get a geared road bike for commuting because it just seems faster and I only get overtaken by roadies which makes me curse them and think...if I was on my Rose I'd destroy you!
Funny you should say that, but I'm consistently faster on my commute on my fix. I think it's because you ride it up to a certain cadence and work to hold it because it's less effort to maintain your speed than to press a lot harder and slower when you're not going as fast.

Maybe it's just because my Charge is basically a tank and it takes a lot of effort to maintain speed. It has a steel frame, steel forks, over-engineered wheels and heavy/bulletproof 32C Panaracer tyres. All this comes to about 12kg!

Until I actually make my first component purchase for the build I'm going to continue to sway between building and buying the Canyon Ultimate AL 8.0 which I think is awesome for the money.

Use the segment explore on strava and change the slider at the top to only show category 4 or above climbs.
This climb neath Bath looks like it's the biggest around your area.
Also, this climb near Nailsworth might be worth a try as well.

I've heard that level of weight to be pretty high a few times in this thread. I'm kind of embarrassed to admit now that my shiny new CX bike weighs 11kg (with mudguards etc on)...

I thought it was pretty light for an alu frame.

Now I want a full carbon jobby :(

Edit: Combined bike/rider weight at the mo = 101.59kg *sigh*

12kg for a fixie? Doingitwrong.com

Well it's all steel and has heavy stock wheels with heavy 32C tyres!

havent you got a rose??

I want to upgrade my commuter and dunno whether to build a new light/agile single-speed or just buy a Canyon because they rock for the monies. Don't fancy commuting daily on the Rose, that is my "Sunday best".

Nice one. What wheels you looking at? Also are you doing the Jodrell Bank sportive with Wally & co?

See above re the wheels. I was talking to Wally the other day, when we were fixing my brakes, about the rides they're planning, but I can't remember which ones he said he's planning for. Not sure which if any I'll be doing, but I'll see how I get on.
