Road Cycling Essentials

My legs feel like crap today. Been cycling my normal commute but been putting in extra work on the turbo on the evenings. Today at work my legs just feel weak and heavy, sitting here with a dull ache in my quads.

Gonna take tomorrow off (or just spin on the turbo rather than grind with any power) in the hope of getting a good ride out of my legs on Sunday.

Just tallied up my build and I'm £24.32 under budget but still need bottom bracket, saddle and bar tape

Rose have those popular Philips front lights on sale for €47 in a sale atm

Can't go wrong with the Canyon RL I loved mine. Don't get a white frame though!

They both look to be great bikes for the money so just go for the one you think looks best aesthetically!

The Canyon is a bit more blinging with the Mavic wheels and Ritchey finishing kit.

Need to vent.

I know I said I wasn't riding but I decided to ride in today since there's pubbage after work. FFS my bike has been in the shed for under two weeks and the whole rear cassette is covered in surface rust, my brand new chain is crusty brown, exposed bits of the frame covered in bright surface rust and the alloy on the wheels covered in white bloom. It was all freshly lubricated when I put it away, bar one ride after the snow, so reasonably clean. What the **** are they putting in road salt at the moment?

That must've been on sale surely!

Spec looks awesome for that price although if I was to nitpick the tyres could be better. :p

VAT Free and it had a little bit of discount on it at the time, currently though that same model would set me back £1150 without tax, so I would go the Canyon route if I was buying now.

The tyres are the only thing I've changed, Conti GP4000's. I do use the stock Vittoria on the rear when on the Turbo Trainer though.

Need to vent.

I'm in a constant battle to keep my bike clean and salt free due to living on a small Island, very salty air and it really cakes the bike driveline components.

We're meant to have a bit of sun tomorrow so I'm gonna do a deep clean on both bikes to make the most of it.

J69 - yeah it really rusts massively if you leave even fora couple of days. Best to give it a quick wash and lube if not using for a few days. Spraying GT85 provides a good layer of protection. I sprayed a couple of spare cassettes that were in a shed for months and there is not a bit of rust on them.
