Second proper ride since my bike fit. Stormed round 28 miles at over 17mph, picked up a bunch of achievements and MY KNEES DON'T HURT!!

My legs actually feel miles better. The best way I can describe it is that they feel longer, so I guess there's something in the adjustments to the saddle and the cleats that means I'm getting that bit more extension at the bottom of the pedal stroke. I'm also feeling like I'm working different muscles in my legs, which is consistent with what he said would happen.

So yeah, so far so good, and it seems like money well spent so far.

I now think Life Cycles have either gone out of business or were not a legitimate company in the first place. They are ignoring my emails and their phone line is dead.:(

I've opened a Paypal dispute to try and get my monies back!

Once I do I was looking at other jerseys. Does anybody own a Howies jersey or a Chapeau jersey?

I will probably get another Torm, but these also look like my kind of thing...

Is it as clear cut as wool (or sportwool) is better than synthetic?

Some of the most expensive jerseys are synthetic (Assos, Castelli, Gore etc). I guess these 2 probably haven't poured the £££ into textile R&D as the big names though!

I've just checked on street view and Life-Cycles is only up the road from me and Vonhelmet. I'm snookered with work until Sat but I don't mind scoping the place out then unless he's off and can do it before.

Nice, that'd be great! I do think it's a real shop, but they either grossly neglect their online shop or they are going out of business. Phone lines going dead and email silence is never a good sign.

I went in to life cycles the other day to look at road shoes that they had on their website. They didnt have anything in pretty much and the shop was very small and didnt look like they had stock of much at all. The person working their wasn't really knowledgeable either. I think anything that you order online from them must be ordered in by them before they can send it out. I would avoid using them in the future

That pretty much clears it up then. I'm having the same problem with a garmin mount I ordered off some random online bike shop. Instead of telling me it's out of stock, they just said nothing and then only told me it hadn't been shipped yet when I emailed asking about it.

Evans have the Gabba SS in small in Black right now. CPA15 for an extra 5% off.

I prefer quality synthetic jerseys to Merino & Sportwool now.

Good spot! Damn, the question now is do I order when I haven't been refunded on my other one yet?!

I really like that Howies jersey. Fortunately for my bank balance they don't have it in stock in my size, and there's no way I'm ever getting down to a small. I have four smartwool and four synthetic jerseys, and while I prefer how the smartwool ones feel on my skin, I find that they don't wick moisture away as fast as the synthetic ones. As a result I tend to wear the smartwool ones from autumn through to spring, then I switch to the synthetic ones in the summer. Lately though I've been wearing a merino wool baselayer under a softshell instead, I find it keeps the wind out a lot better than the jerseys do. I am quite partial to a good jersey, I must admit; I'll probably get myself another one for my birthday next month :)

Garmin standing firm that I will have to pay £82.80 to get my 705 repaired. Apparently the mount breaking is "very rare" despite numerous people on Google talking about what a POS it is and Garmin themselves actually revising and bulking up the original mount. I've sent an email to their "Escalations" team with links to all those threads and pictures of my unit. Pretty disappointed with their response so far.

Glad to hear you're not letting it lie.

grudas, do you believe that every ride has to be an ordeal in order to make it worthwhile? I hate cycling in normal clothing, it doesn't breath well enough and the sweat clings to it - I don't see why you wouldn't want to wear cycle-specific clothing.
