I personally wouldn't wear team kit but I don't see the problem if others choose to. Nobody cares if you wear the kit of your favourite football or rugby or [insert sport] team but in cycling it's looked down upon!

If I was to wear a team kit it would be Wiggle Honda :D

Nice bike...

Thats jeffrey hill as you get to the forest of bowland
To be fair that hill is a b***ard. I did it on Le terrier the other week. and it was the only point where I had to get off and walk for a bit. I think I walked about 15m and then climbed back on but it was brutal. I am sure that sections of that climb are 25%. The bit after Rock Brow was the worst after that its just tough. Probably a mile at average 10%?

You'd still be looked at a little strange in terms of football if you wore the shirt, shorts, socks etc and then couldn't kick a ball.

I can understand wearing a team jersey to show support but not full team kit!

There is a guy over here who wears full Team Sky kit (gloves and socks too), has the Team Sky Kask helmet and even has a blue and black Pinarello! Not sure if it's the Dogma but I just think it looks a bit silly!

Edit: He even wears matching Oakley glasses.

Anybody else going to watch the national championships road race in glasgow this weekend?

I'm going down for the day but i'm not sure where is best to go, there's so much of the course that i want to see.
I think the finish line (glasgow green) will be too busy, so i'm going to avoid there. Probably going to aim for buchanan street and walk back along the course and end in klevingrove park.

You would be a full kit *******, take a look at the twitter feed, it's brilliant!

Anyone used planet x wheels?

I've seen a lot of them at TT races but I'm not sure what their quality is like.
I'm looking to get a pair of deep section wheels to replace my mavic elites (which are awesome but hard to hold high speeds)

Thinking of getting some 82mm tub wheels while they on sale.

What you think of them? Anyone got these?. Will I see noticeable improvement in holding speeds +20mph?
Cheers ps are tubs really that dire to live with Lol..

Why wear full team kit then push

Would love to arrange a group OcUK ride sometime in the future, perhaps all hit up a Sportive together.

To be fair there were quite a few people who had got off, it was just unfortunate for the other chap that he got snapped as i was coming past. The hill wasnt exactly easy but it was nowhere near as bad as some hills ive ascended.

Re the OcUK ride/sportive meet, that would be ace :D

That photo shows you approaching Jeffry Hill to the top and that Strava link is showing it from the bottom. It's much harder from the bottom!

I live in Whalley, just a few miles from Jerffy Hill. Birdy Brow just down the road is much harder, as is Waddington Fell which I did to finish off the Ribble Valley 100 last year.

One of my rides including Jeffry Hill: http://app.strava.com/activities/11315737
Birdy Brow: http://app.strava.com/segments/4399347

It's a great area for short distances and linking some tough climbs. I need to get out more and make the most of it.

Ive got some Planet X 50mm clinchers, great wheel, hold the pace nicely at 20+, hubs are really nice too, only problem i had was in side winds.

Running Dura Ace C50 now because this, and they seem much much better in the winds. Different price range tho, bang for buck you cant go wrong with Planet X so long as its not to windy:)

Anyone used planet x wheels?

I have an 82 on the front of my TT bike (101 rear).
I would go for the PlanetX 50mm clinchers that Kimi had for a few reasons:

- 82mm is big. Very big. It's fast, but it's difficult to ride in the wind.

- Tubs are a massive pain for everyday riding. Small punctures are ok, you can fill the tyre with sealant but anything bigger than a few mm cut in the tyre will be expensive to fix.

- Carbon braking surfaces are fine for TTs where you use the brakes once every 10 miles but on a road bike they are not so good. Performance in the wet is terrible. There are also issues with carbon braking surfaces not dissipating heat as well as metal surfaces - which becomes a much bigger issue with tubs when the glue starts to warm and get softer  but that only happens on long descents with lots of braking.

It'd have to be up our way though. I think riding London streets would depress me.

Nah, it would have to be up my way. I think riding Manchester streets would depress me :p
