Meet in the West Yorkshire, good links from everywhere-ish to Leeds. Plenty of country miles to ride, hills and flats. Not that it's anywhere near my way... *whilstle subtly*

Nah, it would have to be up my way. I think riding Manchester streets would depress me :p

Well obviously we wouldn't be riding in Manchester :p

It's easy to get to decent hilly places from round here though, or as mentioned, Leeds. We've got the Pennines not far away too.

I want to see Grudas climbing hills in his jeans (no homo) :D

If you want to see 'all the gear no idea' types, Richmond park or box hill are v amusing - full of MAMILs in £5-10K bikes who struggled up a gentle gradient!

Haha yes i had my first experience of Richmond Park the other day.. it was amusing when someone on billion pound Pinarello asks you "what bike is that, looks nice, bet it was expensive" "Yea it was, £300 from China":D

Had my bike serviced with Evans (part of their free 6 weeks service) the weekend before, when I got home, I noticed my left crank has a hole I've never noticed. I believe it's where a rubber cap used to be - so either the guys at Evans forgot to pop it back on or it fell out on my ride home. I've ordered a couple of plastic caps to arrive sometime this week.

This morning, every push down the pedal gives a squeak. Very light but annoy when you're concentrating. I did put some GT85 on Sunday before I headed out, but will do that again after a wipe down when I'm home today. My question is, should I worry?

Ah ok - in that case, they definitely did it the easier way then! That one doesn't look too bad, whereas the one i linked to looks a bit

Aye it looks that way, we were just told it was a timed climb up jeffrey hill but it doesnt look like it was the hardest way up :p

If something's creaking it needs tightening up, not lubing. I'd check your pedal axle, crank bolts, crank arm and bottom bracket cups/bearings in that order. I reckon one's slightly loose. Whichever one it is, tighten it fully, regreasing beforehand if needs be.

How many times did you forget to pedal?

Never fell off but twice I went to freewheel and it snapped round but I was pretty quick with learning it I think. :)

Learnt a bit more about seat position and have now realised my road bike seat is too low!

Considering i have such issues with my shoulder they were really comfrortable to ride at speed for hrs. :)

Do they use the dual carriageway that runs alongside the M74 then?

I came up that way from Douglas on sunday morning. The first part of it as you go from Douglas to Lesmahagow is abysmal - road surface is shocking. I assume it's a bit better when you get the other side of Lesmahagow? I turned off onto the Sandford/Strathaven road so didn't go up as far as that.

Also, what's your thoughts on Wilier? Have been eyeing up the Izoard XP Ultegra and I see you guys are stocking them.

It goes Sandford hall, boghead, turn off a back road that takes you to lesmahagow, down the road at the services. Turn at the roundabout and back up the same route. Once into lesmahagow you don't go as far as kirkmuirhill as they turn up the back road to boghead.

The road you are taking about is bloody terrible. Enough for me to want to out 25c tyres on when i thought i had 23c on. Turned out i already had 25c tyres and it hurt a lot.

The wiliers are beautiful to look at but maybe not as technically advanced as the felt. A felt at similar price has bb30 and tapered steerer tubes. The izoard is more about comfort so that might be the reason for that. We have a medium in stock in ek at the moment in the darker colour. The frame hasn't changed much visually in a few years but they did trim the weight a year or two back.

Not sure if its discounted on our site but id be able to move from the rrp whereas they are usually strict on discounting.

Damien or minty - Are either of you out this Saturday morning? My usual lot may not be, so I'm wondering about the iron man loop, and I know you've both done it. I've got other ideas if not, but I would like to try it sometime.

I have an Izoard XP but with campagnolo veloce groupset. I love it. I love looking at it, cleaning it and riding it. Bought it 2nd hand last year but it was pretty mint. For £800 I thought it was a relative bargain and probably more bike than I would need. A year on and 2500 miles later i still feel pretty much the same (n+1 aside). I find it a very comfortable bike over distances up to 100 miles - haven't gone further yet.

Personally I like Campagnolo. The levers and hood shape I find more comfortable than Shimano. I also like the downshift thumb mechanism. Have a flick through the pages of Your Road Bikes over at BikeRadar to fuel your lust. I warn you though its bike porn and dangerous.

Not a fan of team kit. Ironically my frugal side beats my 'care how I look wearing lycra' side so I've still managed to accumulate a few bits of Castelli Team Garmin at a 1/3 of the price of the same Castelli non team equivalent.

Saying that. I do quite enjoy slapping on the Team Kit, going out on the R5 getting the all the gear, no idea looks then smashing it up a hill (one footed) shouting whose the fat girl now leaving a wake of destruction behind me. :p

Similar to riding around in jeans and T on a commute and destroying the DHBers who roll up at the lights :p

I'm busy I'm afraid. I'm sure mighty minty will be up for it if he's free though.
