Oh and....

Might have spotted you today. I was doing a sportive that approached Leek from the other direction and your kit looks vaguely familiar though I could have been imagining it! Saw a fair few riders go past going that direction.

Did the Peak District 100 today. 101 miles and 8901ft climbing, was bloody difficult, especially when the sun came out. I think I managed it in around 6 hours 45 mins but official times come out tomorrow and I'm looking forward to seeing how I did. Real struggle in places but pretty pleased with my form.

Sadly no Strava trace as my computer packed it in midway through, so no 750km badge for the Junedoggle for me!

Last minute miles dropping off some stuff for a mate, so finished the Junedoggle with 1336km :D

(Doh!! just wondering if i should go out and get 1km more)

The funny thing is, even on the slowest hills I've done, I'm usually doing 6mph average at a minimum, and I imagine most people on here are the same or better. Most people walk 3-4mph on the flat, so you're still going considerably faster than if you were walking.

I'd need to check Strava but I'm not sure I managed 6mph!

I saw a few riders coming the other way so you might have seen me. Wondered what else was going on. How are you feeling? I don't think ill be cycling to work today.

People were pushing up on some of the hills I did today. I made it up all of them, in the granny ring and barely quicker than walking.

You'll be fine :)

To say that I find hills hard is an understatement :(. That hill on top of the general altitude and elevation would kill me I think.

Speaking of which I am up north in a few weeks, how close are you to Pendle?

Never heard of it so I'm going to say quite far! Looks like the Manchester guys will be closer.

I was tempted to try and cycle in but came in the car. I might try a few laps around my house later to get my legs spinning.

The hilliest long one I've done is this one I did back in Feb. The wind was relentless though. I'd rather have done half as much elevation again than having to pedal while riding downhill just to avoid rolling backwards up the hill.

I was cooked by the time I'd got home. It's the only time I've ever had my legs cramp up.

Anyone here tried Rotor Q Rings or other eliptical/Osymmetric chain ring?

Im dead curious to try these out.

I've got the previous gen Q rings on my CR1. I think they give a bit if help, but it might all be in my mind.

They are getting worn so I'm replacing them with standard rings shortly to see if I notice a difference going that way.

Cool, i've got a pair of Q rings on the way. I expect it will take a few rides to get used to.

Sounds like the same as me yesterday. Some of the descents into the wind were scary.

I really struggled on some of the later hills, soon as we got onto them my right leg would cramp up. Never had anything like it.

I'll stick to the flat from now on :)

What's every one hoping to manage in June? Anyone going for the Take on the Tour challenge?

I'm also after a new chain and cassette for my Trek. According to http://www.trekbikes.com/us/en/bikes/2009/archive/12 I have a SRAM PG950 11-26, 9 speed cassette and I'm riding a triple. Anyone have any chain suggestions?

Sorry I got the wrong guy. I thought I was quoting [Damien].

Chaps can anyone recommend a cycling pouch/pocket type thing?

Something I can keep my phone and money etc in, that's waterproof too.

My ziplock bag things keep ripping after a while, so it's about time I got something for the job, but can't really find much from a quick search.

I've just done some fiddling to get the route for Sunday's 100 miler into ridewithgps to have a look at the profile.

http://ridewithgps.com/routes/2783606

It's coming up a bit short, at only 97.5 miles, so maybe I've missed a turn somewhere. There's also a bit more climbing than I was expecting, and frankly a bit more than I find easy to believe, from what I know of the area. I wouldn't have thought you could find 4,500 feet in Cheshire, but we'll see. Either way, the average grade will still be much lower than what I'm used to doing on my regular weekly rides, so it should be OK.

Getting a bit nervous now...

Hmm, Strava throws up one cat 4. That starts out at close to 30%. Joy.
