Same, dripping in sweat by the time I got to work.

this is why I still only wear a tshirt I get loads of dodgy looks from people who think it's cold.
I was totally fine yesterday and barely broke a sweat I could see my own breath on the way back but I wasn't sure if it was because it was so could or because my breath was so warm.
A few C lower and I might need some mittens though.

Since getting my 753 I have force myself to ride my Ti. I'd like to take my Pug to a frame builder and say 'I want this in 953, internally routed for Di2"

Mind, as I've said before the geometry and the wheels probably have a bigger impact than the frame material, I just like skinny steel tubes over fat carbon, alu or Ti. Steel lookers nicer, to my eyes.

I'll change my mind again in two years.

my 853 tubes have arrived with my framebuilder, man i am excite

Got home a bit earlier last night and managed out for a quick spin. I have now ridden 160 miles on the Chinavelo/FM029 and am gradually getting the position and fit dialled in. The frame is definitely stiffer than the Wilier. You notice it when out of the saddle and also climbing and thats with my heavier wheels on it. I am gaining more confidence in it also and I think it is actually going to be a faster bike. I suspect I might have a real dilemma come the spring!

This is what it's like right now:

And it's heading for the rest of you :D

yea I did my usual ride at around 6am one day and saw about 200 hares/rabbits dashing across the cycle path as they heard me coming :D

was pretty awesome I never knew there was so much wildlife along the tyne

Dunno, I went for a night out in Newcastle and spotted several moose running wild.

Edit: no problem discussing weather conditions but can we move to ban clothing-related discussions unless they are recommendations of kit? I see this heading for another tedious day of epeen "I commuted to work in a mankini" type posts.

sure although I never really considered it epeen more of you guys over doing the layers and sweating to death when you could have just worn less layers ;)

I completely over dressed for this mornings commute. Said fog and mist so thought it would be cold but no, it was actually quite warm.

I really need to get some water proof trousers and a water proof jacket though soon :(
I don't think I'm ready for Lycra yet

I won't mention it again if it's really that annoying

do any of you guys wear water proof over trousers/water proof trousers?
I'm just wondering how hot they would likely be

anyway think I should head to the local park and do some laps before the rain comes :( thanks for the heads up lol I'm sure the weather man said today would be dry! I likely would have ended up about 12 miles from home and then got soaked :(

Yeah it was just a general observation based around my cycle to work, and the conditions. Which I'll continue to do in future.

@arknor: No I don't wear waterproof trousers. My leggings and bibtights are water 'resistant', and pretty good, but enough time in the rain and they'll be sodden and heavy.

Top half? Totally waterproof thanks to my Softshell :).

I am interested to hear how the Estremos hold up in a downpour. The Castelli Diluvios look like an option for a proper wet weather glove as they are neoprene.

I wouldn't really recommend waterproof trousers, they are bulky and make your legs horribly clammy and blergh. I generally aim to wear merino leg/knee warmers which do a good job of staying warm when wet. Same with upper layers, I'd rather be damp and warm because staying bone dry usually results in you drowning in your own sweat from the inside anyway. It's not until you start spending top dollar that you seem to get a good combination of warmth and dryness (e.g. Rapha hardshell/softshell).

May pick up some Castelli nanoflex bibs though at some point to try, heard fairly good things. The missus has also given me the go-ahead to buy a Gabba this month if I pass my exams which is exciting. :D

My new bike arrived!!

It's so beautiful and soooo light!

Pics to follow at the weekend, will need a longer stem I think and will need to cut the steerer at some point.

Lyrca isn't a fashion statement by any means, but there is a reason EVERY cyclist wears it. Because it's more comfortable that normal clothing, and if you get the right gear, warmer and better at coping with rubbish weather too.

Most of my clothing is water resistant, so it'll get wet, but as it's also highly wind proof you don't feel cold (until you stop!).
Waterproof hardshells of tops are a good option, but fully waterproof bottoms I'm n ot really aware of. Most bib tights are not fully waterproof, just resistant and there is a difference.

Yeah no one actually rides in lycra because they think, dam I look good in this.

Apparently the rain should clear here by about 5 so might stay at work a bit longer.
