well my knog blinder is dead.. strap broke :) ~2months use and it's dead.. well done?! I've seen a few people complain about this after searching. Odd thing is it was sitting on my bike over night and I woke up this morning to find it on the floor..

now what light should I get? can't think of a way to fix it without permanently attaching it to the bike which would make the recharging impossible..

I'm looking at doing just short of 50 miles tomorrow. The weather looks OK, so I'm hoping there won't be any frost.

I've got a route planned that takes me out to some nice flat countryside. It's a pain, though, as there is like one bridge to get across the Mersey/Manchester Ship Canal, and once you're on the other side of it, you basically have to head West to Warrington, which makes for pretty rubbish scenery, or all the way East to the Trafford Centre, which makes for utter suicide in terms of junctions and roundabouts. So... I think I'm going to head across the bridge, do a loop past Dunham Massey with a possible cafe stop, then head back across the same bridge and back on my way.

Get the Topeak RedLite Mega Rear Light. I was recommended it here and it's pretty good. I got it for £20.24 from CRC.

Be seen, be safe!

That's the one I recommended you to get lol :) it's a great light but I'm very picky about looks and I just can't stand that design :(

Cheers, ordered some of the endurance packs, for £4.19 you got 10 things and a bottle, may have ordered more than one!

Gutted I've just missed out on it. Picked two up in Evans the other day for £6.99 each. Still a good price at that to be honest. :) I've always like the gels, can never have too many bottles when you have more than one bike and the powders arn't bad but not what I always need to use.

Nice 50k in the sun this morning, back in love with the riding here. 25c, sunny, low traffic, people in cars wave at you when they pass!

Feeling like I've maybe lost a little performance but hard to tell as it was windy. Not that you can draw much from it, but just over 200w average power based off Stravas guesswork. Just under a 30kmh average so about right.

Just sat down to watch the NSW GP Criterium races. Our club has one rider in each the men's and women's. About 6-7 riders in total for the region which is good, fingers crossed for some good results!

Is there anyway to put it so you've got two cable ties that form a loop then could hold it on temporarily with a couple of velcro straps so you can still use it. Or try sending it back if it's only 2 months old. If mine breaks after that I'd be after a refund.

Going out with the club for the first time since my surgery, over 4 weeks since I last rode!

I'm still in recovery so I'm treating this as a test, if I struggle I know I've got a way to go yet.

(PS. My GP isn't so keen on me going out, but my specialist nurse said it should be ok as long as I take it steady and ride with people).

your local knog dealer will warranty it no questions asked. certain batches were faulty, im guessing your broken strap almost looks like its melted in an s shape?

no need to buy another rear light...

Tempted to try some if it is on offer/

Are these drinks worth it? Up till now I've just drunk water on a ride, though I have just cooked up some flapjack to take on rides now I am doing 2-3 hours.

The electrolyte drink still has some carbohydrates and combined with flapjacks would be plenty of energy so just considering the electrolyte drink really.

Definitely, I used to ride with just water and one day I suddenly got really bad cramp in my calf which left me unable to cycle for 3 weeks. Always use electrolyte stuff now on any longish ride

For your budget try the Fibre Flare? Fits in with your hipster look too!

Had a really good ride this morning, feeling pretty knackered all week riding to work, due to a busy weekend last weekend, but had yesterday off, really felt energised today, and beginning to lower my cadence, push a bigger gear and up my threshold work as part of my winter efforts, which I thought was slowing me down, but managed to get some PRs today.

Was a bit chilly, but managed to get my layers to perfection, as I never got too hot or was too cold.

Woohoo! 49 miles this morning which takes me comfortably over my target of 3000 miles for the year. I averaged about 16mph (lower according to strava) and didn't stop at all, except once when my rear light made a bid for freedom and jumped off the back and I went back to pick up the pieces and put it back together. I got to 45 miles and then felt my legs going so whacked it in the small ring and limped home to avoid a full on bonk.

Weather was lovely, scenery was lovely. Great ride.

Urgh, feel like crap today. I've hit the strong painkillers early.

I have to say, while I like the concept of the Blinder, I'm a bit concerned about its longevity and the claimed "75 hours" burn time is way too optimistic. 5-6 hours maximum is what I've got so far. Disappointed with it on that front.

Fibre Flares are awesome :) Though with mine I find it's a nice addition to my back lighting rather than a replacement.
Agree. They also don't like getting wet, so they work better if they're on your bag or back rather than on the bike near the back wheel.

Yup Warburton Bridge. I plan on doing a longer route round there some day via that road from Culcheth. Wish I lived a little closer to the Rivington area but its a fair treck from my house.

The road from culcheth is good - nice and flat, easy bends here and there, pretty quiet.

You're in golborne somewhere, aren't you? For rivington, head up to the crossroads in hindley, straight over and then up to aspull. From there you can go to haigh or blackrod and get to rivington. It's about 8 miles from golborne to aspull, so you wouldn't want to go too much further if you were looking for, say, a 40 mile route, but you could go up rivington or chorley old road or do some of angelzarke/yarrow.

In my experience, places aren't as far away as you might think! Once you get going you can get a surprising distance and get to places you would think we're much too far away. I got to Dunham Massey and back today and in my head that's really distant. Maybe it's because I've only ever really driven there, so in my head it's somewhere you drive to which means its far away.

I'm planning to cycle to my parents on the Wirral sometime next year. It's about 40 miles and I'd have to take the mersey ferry. That'd be quite an adventure.

I've emailed tredz who I bought it from just to see what they respond with.. hopefully I'll get a replacement because 2 months is just pee take, yes I remove my lights quite often because I park my bike in high theft areas but that shouldn't be an issue especially since KNOG advertise their "easy mount system"

we'll see what the outcome is.. here's how it looks -;

hipster? lol I'm far from hipster! but I don't like lights that stick out too much or don't "blend" with the seat post.. genuinely I'm really picky about looks and if annoys me I'll rip it off.. or repaint it.. :o

75hrs MIGHT be possible in the ECO mode but that IMO is not something I'd use in london.. I use the "pulse to blink" mode and that lasts me through the week so 10x35-40 min rides + 3 rides to gym and back.
