You don't appear to have much room to move the saddle back without a layback post.

might sort itself out once i raise the seatpost tbh!

but i figured theres a chance i might need a layback

we'll see

I'm looking to build up a new bike for 2014 so clearly have some time to source the parts. Currently toying between the following ideas and not really sure yet what to go for. Will most likely try and get everything other the frameset 2nd hand (unless something pops up)

Want a semi all rounder, still prefer longish 50-60m+ rides - have my CAAD8 that will be resigned to commuting and if I take up racing may start with that (thats the intention anyway)

CAAD10 or Supersix
Cervelo R3
Canyon Ultimate CF SL (maybe even the X if its worth it)
Bianchi Sempre Pro
Scott Addict (or even the reduced foils on Westbrookes)
Quite like the venge too but everyone seems to have Spesh bikes which is the only thing putting me off

Any thoughts on any of the above to help me narrow this down a bit

Canyon bikes are good value, but not so great as a bare frame.
It would cost you more to buy a frame and build it up with second hand parts than it would to buy a full new bike to the same spec.

Use the time between now and next summer to save up for a full bike, not to build one slowly.

self build is great if you've got parts you want to use, or are a savvy bargain-grabber, but it'll usually prove more expensive for everything brand new.

Considering a frame building course for interest. Wonder if its worth the expense. Some decent ones around the £1K mark; probably a bit too expensive for something I just want to give a go.

I'm a bicycle academy graduate, and they focus hard on teaching you how. Some of the other courses are more "assisted build" than "how to build a frame"

you pays yer money and takes yer choice...
