It's all well and good chaps but I don't normally get home until 6.30-7 - it's an hour round trip then to Richmond park, plus 20mins per lap. It's basically impossible for me to get a decent midweek session outdoors :(

I do, but you are always have limited cadence options, and you end up shifting to match the output rather than the other way around

Care to elaborate?

I use TrainerRoad alongside the Sufferfest videos, I can hit the same power, say 320w, by either pedalling an easier gear faster or a harder gear slower - what's the issue?

I rarely match the cadence Sufferfest is asking me to hit as it doesn't suit my riding style.

Ok to expand a bit - you're still limited to certain ranges of RPM to hit a certain power, eg you either pedal at 90 in one gear or 82 in another. Not the end of the world, but there's also a bigger benefit with being able to chose any gear - you can simulate climbing a lot better

On the KK and other similar trainers, you can replicate the feel of 320w on a flat road, but 320w up hill feels subtlety different - the issue is the energy stored in the flywheel gives you a certain momentum similar to how it is when you're riding on the flats. Up hill you lose this, but you can get a similar feel on a trainer like the kickr by training in a lower gear, which reduces the energy in the flywheel, so the spin down will be much faster. The difference is subtle but it's there.

So I guess the point is it's not just about the convenience of not having to shift gears, but adding in the above and the support for third party apps it's a lot more than a very good resistance trainer. Whether it's worth a £650 premium over a KK is a difficult question to answer though!

I know what you mean

when I had to do some standing or sitting on the bike on the Turbo when I have to pretend im climbing, I don't feel like im climbing at all, I find it really strange to use when standing, I have to go in the highest gear available otherwise I just don't pedal correctly, and it doesn't feel like im on the road

Just put a deposit on one of these to collect at the weekend. :D

Trying to adjust my road.cc team and it keeps coming up as over budget, even with money to spare, anyone got any ideas?

Did you ever get these? The cold is keeping me off my bike :(

Yes I did. They are good, better than any of my other glove combinations for cold riding (of which there are many) but they are not without flaws:

- They only fit under my Gore Xenon Thermo Windstopper gloves, which isn't a bad thing, but you might not have a suitable outer glove. Dexterity suffers a bit too, but no worse than the Castelli Estremo on its own.

- On the hottest setting (obviously the best) they only last for 2hr before running out of battery. So I have to run them at medium for longer run-time but less heating power.

- The lithium batteries are a lot larger than I expected so are a bit bulky on the wrist area.

Wife: Is it raining outside?
Me: No, I've just been in the garage sweating like a Frenchman in a brothel through Angels.

I do like that one - nothing like chasing down cheaters on Alpe D'Huez :)

Picking my bike up for the cleaners tomorrow :D its had a full strip down to bare frame and cleaned and re greased etc all it needed was new gear cables. :) I've owned it over a year now, done something like 1100 miles on it

and im booking my bike fit whilst its ready to ride, going to Velo Motion in Milton Keynes on the Thursday 30th

then, I will be ready for the summer !!!

how much was the clean?
I've done about 6k total on mine but not had it serviced, replaced the chain once myself but that's about it beyond clean/lubing
