Was out for the clubs bunched training ride in the wind today.

Met Tedmaul on the way up and got in the road together.

Legs are hurting like **** now :(

that was fast 60 miles n 3 and a half hours? I wish...

Been reading up on fuelling for my rides and recovery, and when I did my 50 miles a week or 2 ago, I bonked around 35 miles, not enough fuel it seems

What on earth did you take during this ride?

Hey guys, remember me?

Went for second ride this year today, beautiful weather, my cardiovascular fitness is no where near where it was last year but it felt good to finally get back out after I've been continually been putting off cycling (other than commute) for a while.

Go on then, shame us all with how far and how fast you rode... :p

I didn't look at my Garmin but 30mi at around 15mph. I just wanted to get out and clear my head, and enjoy the weather. Chasing numbers was so 2013 :)

had stuff to do this weekend so heading out for 25-30 miles from central manchester to get some miles in, looks very very grey out..

Was expecting to see you'd bought the foil+di2 offer :p

Spent most of the day in the sunshine and am already getting tan (read slightly pink) lines. Will definitely need to remember the sun cream if it gets any warmer!

Still, longest distance by a good 40 miles today ... was pacing myself around a 150 HR and it seemed to work :) Managed an ice cream by the sea and some cake at box hill so all in all a very productive day

Was a great ride you put in today mate.

I'm utterly gubbed now, my legs feel like they're about to fall off. Maybe doing 90km on the bunch ride yesterday wasn't a great idea - if i'd known how hard today was gonna be i'd have just sat at on the sofa instead.

Pleased with the pace. Sick of this wind though, the last 10km was utterly brutal.

That's not a bad pace for the douglas loop. I'm happy enough with my overall average!

I ended up with soup, into bed for a wee snooze then to the doon in were two mates had pints and I had a can of coke :(

My head still hurts and I feel hung over :|

Edit: I got strava to fix the elevation but VV hasn't changed back.

Edit: How did you get on at the dick longdragon today touch?

For those that use Richmond Park, I hate Sawyer's Hill. The bit I hate isn't the steep bit, or the bit between the top and Richmond Gate roundabout. The bit I hate is the rest of it, the false flat, predominantly into the wind, from Roehampton roundabout to the bottom of the hill proper.

It saps me. I can bound up, down and round the rest of the park, but I just hate that bit.

That is all.

Yup, that's definitely the worst part! I think half the problem is that is is really exposed so it's very prone to crosswinds, but even with a tailwind i've never managed much of a time around that section!

Between last weekend's mental wind, and getting a couple of good rides in midweek, decided I couldn't be arsed with my bike today and went for a long run instead. Completely fed up with this wind.

Please forgive me for posting this in here! Quick question for anyone who knows about hub gears and specifically belt drive (Gates). Is there any reason I can't get a longer belt and bigger front sprocket to gear up my bike? I often find myself trying to shift up when in 8th and I never use gears 1-3.

Cheers

Dave

It's at least a lot quicker than i could have managed a year ago, but need to put some work in if i'm ever to keep with the fast bunch. I reckon you'd be good to get out with them now.

I couldn't have faced pints either. Spent the afternoon watching the cycling on the tv and eating. :)

I've off the drink for March regardless so it wasn't too bad.

I don't think I'd hold on with the 9.30 guys for a good while!

No problem at all. You just have to make sure that you get a combination that works with your chain stay length and the lengths of belt available. There is a calculator in the Gates site.
